Anyone used them? Good? Bad?
I asked a similar question last week about the non rs version
https://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/trp-hylex/
Seem well regarded. Anyone know what the difference is between the rs version and the standard one??
I have an RS front and an older Hylex on the rear of my SS commuter. Both feel exactly the same, only the dimpled lever on the RS feeling different.
I think they are great. Easily as good as a MTB brake, only less powerful, assuming due to smaller 160mm rotors, compared to 180mm on MTB.
Far nicer feel than the TRP Spyres they replaced. Better than older SRAM hydro’s I’ve had a spin on in the past, never tried Shimano hydro’s to compare.
If you want SS drop bar brakes, I can’t imagine there is anything better.

I can't compare them to other drop bar discs specifically but I am happy with mine and they've been reliable in moderate use over 3 years or so.
Having just changed a hose and bled both I can also say they're easy to bleed. One point to note there is that you do (I think) need TRP's own replacement hoses if you do this because the lever is designed around their own pre-fitted banjo, which is smaller than the generic ones I had.
thanks all, looks like they're the way to go
The mounting bolts on the lever clamps are made of cheese. I'd recommend a non-ball Allen key while fitting them.
Also, read the instructions, the lever bleed port is torx (T15)
Apart from those minor niggles, I'm very happy with mine. Replacement hoods are also available, I changed my gum ones to black.
