Here is a bit of video form the guy in NZ who is using one of my lights for some night kitesurfing .

i would have thought that is a really stupid idea.

i'd never fly at night on the water. i know many very competent windsurfers and they all say that it's an unwritten rule that you don't sail at night.

looks like fun though.

I know nothing about kite surfing but these guys are very competent and are wanting to do a 24 hour endurance thing off the coast of Brazil

sounds barking mad to me with nasty biting things in the dark sea.

Well it obviously increases the risks of impact with hidden objects and makes navigation harder, plus people like th RNLI wont thank you if they have to go hunting at night, but other than that its technically bugger all different. We used to surf under the beams of our car headlights (park 10 or so cars facing the water and turn on the headlights) and keep going an extra couple of hours - no problems, but it's no more fun than in the day, in fact slightly less fun as you cant properly judge jumps and waves so you tend to spend more time in the water 😀
