I'm off to triscombe tomorrow. First time visit, although I've ridden the quantocks a couple of times, just not triscombe.
Is it super gnarly, will I need the mud tyres on (spec hillbilly) or cool with purgatory/butcher combo? I'm not a 'send it's rider, but Im happy doing fod downhill.
Flatter bits are pretty rooty, steeper bits loose and rocky. Not much mud - aggresive trail / downhill tyres be fine - I run magic mary / hans dampf no issues.
There's not much in the way of mandatory gaps but plenty of stuff to jump off if you want.
I think a lot of the trails have been ruined by forestry work. Have you checked out the current status there?

Triscombe is pretty much on my doorstep so I've been up there the last 2 weekends running. There's a few trails that have been affected by the forestry work but nearly everything else is fine + there's a few new bits too!
There aren't many jumps you can't ride around, some bits are quite steep and rooty but nothing super gnarly and those tyres will be fine.
Yeah as above, I was up there last Saturday (23/2) and it was basically dry as a bone other than a few puddles here and there. It was another no bike / kit wash ride, put it that way. It will be slightly more muddy after the rain, but should handle it well.
The shorter tracks on the car park / road side have been adjusted / trashed but the longer ones from the main fire roads are all good. Had a great day out, have fun!
Had great fun there yesterday. Cheers for the info above.
A bit of rain overnight meant it was quite slick at the carpark side of the trails but still rode really well.
The tracks are great fun, especially where it gets steeper. Lots of roots make it a challenge in the wet! I'll definitely be going back when I get a chance.
