I’ve just bought a second hand frame, it already has a cable outer for a dropper routed through it, and it feels very tight feeding it back and forth

Im trying to decide what dropper to get, but am thinking reverb (it’s what I’m used to am aware of drawbacks)

problem is I’m worried if I remove current cable (even if I mouse it out) it’s so tight I’ll struggle to pull another through with thread tied to it

is there an way of joining them (almost like a double ended self tapper) so I could gently push and pull through

its running through TITs (fnar) on the dowtube, so can’t be any thicker than the hoses external diameter

Reverb stealth comes with a little adaptor that screws into old and new hoses/cables for this purpose.

I’ve seen those but never realised what they were actually for, are they the same OD as the hose?

Yep.

Right hand thread one end left hand thread the other so you can wind it into both hoses together.

A word of warning, that barb is designed for hose, not cable,if you pull too hard on the old cable, the liner in the outer will tear and pull out with the barb, so be careful.

One word of warning if you go for a Reverb

Check the diameter of the hole in the frame, my Specialized dropper's hole is 4mm so will only take a 4mm cable/hose

Reverb hoses are 5mm so you have to drill out the frame or return the Reverb like i did

Yep, found that out. It doesn't bind into normal cable outer and will pull out with the minimum of effort. I wouldn't bother.

I've not seen an internal routed dropper in person, I came to the conclusion that it would be practically impossible to install one on a gravel bike where the brake hose is fixed under the bar tape, small loop into an internally routed downtube, and then out under the BB and straight into the seat tube via a modified Di2 hole.

Is that right?  I went with a crotch grab style dropper instead...
