My dropper post has a small plastic bushing which sits directly under the rubber wiper seal - where you'd expect to see a foam seal on a fork.

It's knackered, so needs to be swapped out. Trouble is, it sits on a lip with nothing protruding to tap it out with. There is no screwdriver slot etc.

Any tips on how you'd approach it? I've tried heating the metal and heating the bushing separately to try to break the seal, but to no avail.

What dropper?

Use a 2mm bit to drill a pilot hole so you can get a screwdriver in to tap it out.

Bikeyoke Revive.

[s]Coming to that conclusion - not keen on drilling if I can avoid it, but can't see an alternative.[/s]

EDIT: Aha. Couple of hours in the freezer and I've made it brittle enough to pop it out with a screwdriver. Sorted.

Stupid follow-up question. 🙂

Bushing sorted now - looking at the replacement guide pins which came in the service kit.

Noticed they all have a very slight bend in them. The old ones do not.

The question is - is that supposed to be there, and they will straighten over time, or has someone sat on my envelope in the post sorting centre?

Would ask Sacki at Bikeyoke, but want to ride the thing tomorrow and would rather not have to re-use the old pins if I don't have to.

Bikeyoke Revive.

Thought these were no fuss minimal service and faultless?

Also they've not been about for that long I think, and it needs new bushings?

Just concerned as it's on my wish list to get away from the hassles of Reverbs.

Yes, I thought it was doing well. Had it since March. I gave it a 'clean-up' service a month or two back because it was getting slow which restored it fine, but it wasn't dropping smoothly yesterday - getting caught on the first bit of the travel, so I hauled it apart again to look at the seals/bushings.

Bushing didn't look pristine, so decided to do the full service/swap. If that doesn't sort it, it's going back to them before it's out of warranty.
