Syncros FL1.0 Carbon post with curvy head two bolt config, just over 100 miles old and can’t get the thing to hold the saddle in position. It’ll be fine then a big drop and it’ll move nose skyward.

Have tried saddle in various positions, cleaning, and most recent carbon paste and slightly over torquing. Still moves. I don’t want to tighten it any more really.

Would sand paper wedged in the work? It’s a smooth surface so not surprising it’s moving

I have the same design on my Ritchey classic and it’s rock solid but that is on a commuter so no big impacts

Clean everything up, bit of carbon assembly paste on rails and clamp faces, threadlock on the bolt threads and torque them to the right setting.

metal rails ?
I'd be roughening them up a bit (though maybe try putting duct tape round first of all)

it's not the saddle that's the problem, it's the actual seatpost head, the top of the post is curved, and the clamp sits on the curve. there isn't enough friction on that curved bit to stop the saddle from tilting the rails stay put.

OK, can you take the top clamp right off ?

duct tape on top of the post & reassemble ?
bit of old inner tube between the two ?
"glue some sand" on there ?

Not ideal, but could you put a strip or 2 of grip tape on the curved bit of the seat post?
Or try roughing up the surfaces with a file to give some extra grip?

yes can take the top clamp off fully. I'll try some old inner tube to start with, then move onto roughing it up.

seems a bit of a crap design as I'm hardly a clydesdale.

Send it back.

I had a aluminium Ritchey of similar design, no problems.
