I need a bike now and with ride to work I can only go through Evans (tried to change that, but not there yet), so these are my 2 only options:

I'd rather have aluminium but there is no stock in my size (L). Geo is pretty much identical, biggest difference is the Trek having a slacker seat angle and therefore a longer ETT.
Components wise I think Trek is better equipepd.
Trek has frame storage, longer stroke shock and lifetime warranty on the frame, Norco is 5 years.
Trek has Fox shox vs Rockshox in Norco, I like RS better as they're home serviceable, but the Fox stuff seems better on paper?
Trek has also 10mm extra suspension both front and rear, which I don't think I need, but I also believe it's not a deal breaker.
I've been keeping an eye on second hand market but for the price I would get these 2 bikes there is nothing worth getting.
Slash. I'd be all over that ! Mmmmmm yummy.
I've done plenty of basic servicing on my Fox kit at home...?
Regqrds the Top tube length - remember that the slacker the angle, the more your leg length plays a part.
My Hightower has a trendy steep seat tube angle 'on paper' but in reality its kinked like that Trek - what this means is that because I've got short legs, I sit further forward than someone with longer legs. Ergo, at 5ft 10, I ride a large.
My other bike has a more traditional straight seat tube, and I ride a medium.
That might make a difference depending on your body shape. regardless, the Trek looks ace, it owuld go some way to swaying me.
Storage box I would find super useful too.
From a numbers game I think the Sight is pretty much bob on, but there is a couple of little niggles for me. The rear shock is dinky & an odd little size - also being a Norco you really are tied in to Evans if it sh*ts itself.
The Trek, you could always go elsewhere. I think i'd mildly grudgingly go for the Trek. Having ridden one it does go well. It also doesn't have a stupid thru-shaft shock 🙂
I'd go for the Trek for sure.
I've got pretty long legs: 90 cm inseam and seat height is at 78.5cm, so yes, I'll be more stretched on the Trek!
Trek, its sourced through Trek uk. Norco is brought in by Evans, so I'd question the quality and longevity of support. On that alone, I'd go Trek.
@Hob-Nob Your reasoning is spot on :-), although I think Norco is going with a new distributor for 2021.
I initially discarded the Trek because of the thru shaft shock, then I realised the 9.7 doesn't have one.
Seems the Trek is the winner then, thanks!
