Thinking of buying a base spec remedy 7. I have a load of upgrades ready to go. The only thing im worried about is the shock. Trek use a 230x57.5 shock. Is there anything other than rockshox for this size.

Regards

Trek shocks are often Trek only as they have DRCV or whatever other new internals theyve cpne up with. Choice tends to be limited

You can run a 60mm stroke shock on a remedy it would seem.  Seen a few X2 fitted of late

I think a 60mm stroke shock would increase the travel to around 158mm and mess with the geometry.

I know Öhlins make a coil in 230x57.5 but it £650 to £700. Why doesTrek insist on using proprietary systems, surely it’s limiting its market.

It's not the same model, but I've got a Remedy 29 which I sneaked the top-end Trek shock into, and tbf I'd never dream of replacing it with anything else, it is completely superb. I've heard some less positive things about the newer model mind, but for mine I'd genuinely say the reason Trek use their proprietary shock etc is because it's bloody brilliant.
