I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a new Trek Remedy (9.8).

Should I go for it or are there any other stand out competitors?

Looking to avoid a big upfront outlay of cash and go the 0% route, which unfortunately counts out the likes of YT and Canyon.

Cheers

New stumpjumper worth a look as well, competing in the same trail bike genre.

If you have cash to splash, buy a Slash.

New Stumpjumper. Threaded BB and no cheesey knockblock to snap off.

For someone who have owned 3 Remedy 26" then a 2017 Remedy 8 27.5" found the bike was not as good would go for 29ER slash found by 9.7 29er handle much better maybe I just did not gel with the wheel size mind the Stache FS is way better than both.

Stuck on this question at the moment. Really like the look of the Whyte 150 as well

I've got a 2019 Remedy 8 and love it. Sure the likes of a Slash would be faster on the right terrain and the Slash has good handling too, but I'm still happy that I bought the Remedy instead. It's just a great all-rounder, easy to throw around, very predicable steering throughout its arc (God I hate floppy steering bikes....), front end pops up with little effort but the bike is planted on climbs. I'm sure the bike would be just as stiff with the down tube lifted around 3mm so no Knock Block needed but it's not a deal breaker and I've had no issues with it. I don't ride as hard as I used to, but on the other hand my local trails are Squamish BC so the bike gets a beating regardless. If you just have to get down the hill as fast as possible then the Slash takes it, but if you want to have a laugh then I'd still take the Remedy.

I have the Fuel, so not really comparable. However, it has been the most fun I have had on a bike for a long time and been very impressed with the fit and finish.

Had the 2014 Remedy 8, the 2016 Remedy 9, and now currently on the 2018 Remedy 8.  Could have bought the 9.7 for the same price which although carbon, the spec wasn't as good.

Does everything I want it too, from BPW/BMCC/Revo, to Bolty bash, to local XC rides.

Love it!

I got to say my current Remedy 9 RSL was bought as a stop gap bike.  But I bloody love it!  So much so I am looking like I may upgrade the frame rather than buy a new bike in the new year like I had planned.

Had my 2018 Remedy 8 since the middle of the year and couldn't be happier with it.

It's one of those bikes that is just good at everything, no weak points or compromises.

For the price and spec, I think it's hard to beat.

I have a 2019 remedy. I purchased it as a frame only as I had everything bar the frame and fork.

Its not the longest, slackest or lowest bike out there.  But that makes it better in my opinion. I use it for everything and it’s brilliant.

Swing a leg over one, I bet you will get one.

Nukeproofs in look good shocker.

If you want 0% get a credit card and DD payments into it, you'll get a better deal on a bike, and not be stuck with dealers that do 0% finance.

I've got a 2014 remedy 7 and my son has a 2017 remedy 7 and they are both fantastic. His one is way later than mine but mine has pikes compared to his Yari. I honestly couldnt fault either and the remedy is a big skills compensator on my old orange crush from the same year. I'll probably take his remedy when he upgrades in a few years though Im not sold on the knock block.

Trek remedy 18 27.5 here. My first trek after loads of other brands and have not found any compromises with it. Downhill, up hill, across, it’s great at all of it. Knock block is not an issue for me. Fit, geometry suspension is all spot on.

Thanks for all the feedback, looks like it'll be a good choice.

A £5000 bike and it’s got Sram GX Eagle on it and not even the top spec Lyrik?

I’m biased (and had a lower budget) but if you went for a Bird Aeris 145lt and had £5000 to spend you’d get some serious kit on it.

I have a 2018 Remedy 8 and I love it. Earlier in the year some friends and I did a few big demo days just for giggles with no intention of buying. I rode bikes from Hope, Orange, Whyte, Canyon, Intense, Cannondale, Specialized, Evil plus others but it was the Remedy that really stood out. Such good value and the bike just sings.

So when my beloved Nukeproof snapped I knew without question what it’s replacement would be. 0% on Evans for a year made it easy too.

Do it!

The 9.8 is £4500 and comes with carbon wheels, bars, eagle GX a good quality carbon frame and Lyrik RCT3 charged2 (was the RC2 even out when they launched or spec’s this model)

i dont think thats bad value, hardly surprising a bird bike is going to be cheaper is it? But for a bike from a dealer network the spec and price I personally think is too bad

edit: in fact using your link I added carbon bars and wheels to the bird build and it came in at £4174. Now that build comes with guide ultimates and xo1 but it’s hardly a million miles from the (carbon) trek price is it?

Love mine, 2016 one setup quite xc style and just goes fast everywhere, although i did put some light easton wheels on. Holds speed up and down hill really well
