I've got a 2020 Trek Remedy 9.7. The chain is rubbing the tyre. ITS A 2.6" Specialised Tyre and chain rubs it in biggest ring. According to Trek it should.d take up to 2.8 rear. Anyone had the same problem or know how to solve it?

Have you changed anything else on it? Wheels, rims, cranks?

Is the wheel in straight? Is it aligned to the frame?

So many possibilities, including a bent chain/seat stay 🙁

Thanks replies. The wheel has been changed but it was doing it before I changed the wheel and I checked that it should fit. Have changed mech hanger and mech to try to fix it but still happens. Carbon stays on the Trek so can't imagine they would bend.

Have you measured what the tyre with calipers? I've had tyres in the past that are way over what they should be. Rim width cant affect it too.

Could be an alignment issue - my son's 2018 Remedy 9.7 is running a Spesh Slaughter 2.6 without causing issues, has Bonty Line wheels.

If it's rubbing the chain - that has to be at the BB end of the chainstays? The chainline on my son's is directly over the stay, so the tyre would rub that before the chain. Do you have a boost chainring? (pic to follow)

Hmm, yeah, guess it depends which gear its in. I'll have a look in the garage in a bit

In bottom gear (biggest sprocket) masses of clearance with 2.6 Slaughter

So yes it rubs the tyre at the bottom bracket end and it's s 2.6 butcher. I've checked my hub measurements and it looks like the hub is a few mm narrower on the new wheel so I think CRC may have advised me wrong on size.

Thanks all for the advice

Thanks for the advice. Turns out it was a worn mech. There was lots of play in the jockey whhels and pivots. I put on a new mech (fortunately I had a spare) and now clearance is back to what it should be

Must have been a proper sloppy mech, usually its a wrong chainline and rear boost adapters putting the big cog 3mm inboard that does it with fat tyres.
