I like the look of the Trek Procaliber 6 (2019) for long XC rides in the UK. Anyone own the bike and can give some feedback ?How would it be for long rides (comfory and efficiency ?)

I'm 6:2ft and 85kg so probably looking at the 19.5 frame, do Trek come up small ? Alternative is the 21.5 inch frame but I hate bigger feeling bikes.

Thanks

I'm 6ft & ride a 19.5 fuel ex, ithe fuel has a shorter effective top tube so 19.5 would be good for you.

Just shy of 5ft 11 on an 18.5 Fuel and I like it a lot. I used to ride a 19.5 but prefer the shorter 18.5. Not a lot in it really.

I wouldn't go for a 19.5" and I am only very slightly shorter than you. I spent a long time going for the smaller of the two sizes when buying bikes, last purchase (not a trek)I went for an XL, fits so much better. It's just a shame that the procaliber jumps from 19.5 (actual 18.5) to 21.5 (actual 20.5). It always bugs me the only gets slightly longer but a lot taller thing with MTB sizing.

I think a 19.5 will be too short for a rider of your height, unless you go all Sam Gaze, stem wise.

Good point about the actual size bing smaller than the advertised size, I forgot all about that!

Anyone actually ridden a Trek Procaliber that can give some feedback on the ride.

Thanks

I've got last years with the double chainring. Considering there's nothing fancy on it it's pretty lightish. Just remember even with the ISO it's not a softail, While pedaling seated it does take a bit of the buzz out.

Kuco - how efficient is the bike ? Does the iso "bob" around a lot and you lose energy ?

I'm 5ft 11inches and ride a 19.5 Procaliber 8 and I find it a very comfortable bike. The Iso does not "bob" but does make it a more comfortable ride as I used to get backache on my Trek Superfly but not on my Procaliber. I did have issues with the bike when I first got it with the chain jamming between the two front cogs. Trek replaced the frame with a carbon frame as they didn't have a colour match, for the aluminium frame. Having found carbon frames a bit too stiff in the past, for my back, the carbon frame on the procaliber is just as comfortable. Great bike.

if you want to put those size tyres on you need a more trail orientated bike, procaliber is a XC race bike really

Kuco – how efficient is the bike ? Does the iso “bob” around a lot and you lose energy

no it just takes the buzz out, reading your posts you really need to demo a procaliber to see what they actually ride like

No, you don't lose any energy and it doesn't bob. The ISO only works while seated as soon as you stand up on the pedals it doesn't, but you lose no power when standing and sprinting. You actually don't notice the ISO working while seated and pedaling.

As rocketdog says it is aimed as a xc race frame. I don't personally race but use it for blasting around local trails albeit slowly 🙂 Mine came with Bontranger 2.2" tyres and plenty of cleareance and could happily go to 2.3" without issues. Wouldn't dream of attempting to put a 2.6" in.
