I've got to return the DRCV shock on my EX8 to Mojo for some warranty work. Can anyone advise if there are any peculiarities I need to be aware of when removing the shock please?

TIA

no not really, just use unworn allen keys and don't force the mounting bolts.

There's wee washer type things on the inside of the linkage at the top mount. I never noticed them till one fell out onto the shed floor, thereby initiating a headtorchlight search on hands and knee...look out for those...

Make sure you loosen off the main pivot otherwise the shock will be a bitch to remove and you'll probably chip loads of paint off!

Cheers for the info fellas. Good to know about those little washers and main pivot in advance (though I still managed one chip 😥 ) - shock is now off & on its way to Mojo.

What happened to the shock out of interest? Leak out the adjusters or squelching?

Also interested in the problem, leaking a little oil on the shaft?

Got the same problem on a freinds bike, ordered an air can seal kit that should sort it...

One of the guys from TF Tuned has got a Fuel EX with a DHX 3.0 in the back and he says it rides awesome, might be worth having a chat as it took him quite a while to get it all dialled.

Quick update for anyone interested - Shock is on its way back from Mojo. The shock was making a really noticeable squelching noise on compression - especially bad once the bike had stood for a few minutes.
The guys at Mojo phoned to say it was cavitating and has been fixed under warranty. There was a tiny bit of oil around the PP lever & rebound dial, but not sure how fresh it was - no real traces of oil on the shaft of the shock. Wife & I have 3 other bikes with RP2's and RP23 and none of them sound squelchy, or show signs of lots of float fluid on shaft.

FWIW, I used to have a Pace405 with DT rear shock and it suffered from the same squelching noise - which turned out to be cavitation, fixed under warranty job. If that was anything to go by, the bike rode far better when the problem was fixed.

Looking forward to getting the shock back on the bike now 😀
