Afternoon all, wee question. I have a 2011 Trek Ex9 with some 120mm fox forks. pretty sure they have a daft e2 trek specific tapered steerer tube thingy. I'm considering selling (if i can) the frame but keeping the forks and some of the parts to potentially move across to a hardtail frame. Possibly a soul. can something with a 44mm headtube i.e like a soul take e2 forks? I suspect if so it needs so witchfartery headset combo?

Or should i just sell the trek as a complete frame and fork package and just get some new forks?

Cheers

Dave

It's just a tapered steerer.

Yep, normal tapered steerer. Their 29ers have G2 geometry, which is a different offset, but nowt special about the steerers.

Ah fantastic, for some reason i thought it was a trek specific standard. That makes life a bit easier. Annoyingly my current hardtail fraim which has rigids has a normal headtube and they will not fit grrrr.

On that note, what would people suggest for some cheap 100mm straight steerer forks? I have a 15 mm front wheel already so that would be handy but can convert back to QR easy enough.

Thanks
