My Trek Remedy 8 (2016) needs a new BB.

It turns fine, but sounds like a bag of gravel in a washing machine.

The Trek archive ( https://archive.trekbikes.com/kr/en/2016/Trek/remedy_8_27#/kr/en/2016/Trek/remedy_8_27/details) lists it as PF89.5, which is a standard I've not heard of. Is this just Trek's proprietary name for another standard? I've got a SRAM GX crankset in there atm, not sure of the spindle size.

There's little online about it, other than a Pinkbike forum post saying it's possibly a BB86/92?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's similar to BB90/92 but can't be 100% certain. Crankset is likely to be GXP as putting a 30mm spindle crank in a 41mm diameter BB shell is a really stupid idea (although some do).

Take the crank off. Look at the BB. If it's plain dark bearing covers that you can pop off with your hand, it's probably BB95 - which is alu cups that are part of the frame that you just press the bearings into. If you see a shimano or SRAM gxp pressfit BB, then you'll need a normal BB92 GXP BB. If you take your crank off you'll see if its' 30mm or 24mm.

I'm at work atm, so can't take the crank off, but I'm fairly sure its got a plastic cartridge around the bearings rather than alu cups. The seals are red, fairly sure it's a SRAM plastic one piece job.

Thanks for your help

It's the pf41 89.5/92 BB and then you need to know if it's a SRAM dub or SRAM gxp crank

It's highly likely to be the SRAM gxp pf41 89.5/92 bb in there👍 unless the BB and crank have been updated recently to the newer SRAM dub system with the larger spindle

BB90/BB95
Proprietary? Yes (Trek)
BB shell inner diameter 37mm
Bearing inner diameter 24mm
BB shell width 90mm road, 95mm MTB
Installation Pressed bearings with stepped BB shell
Compatibility Designed specifically for 24mm spindles, no 30mm option
Other names n/a
Other notes The extra width of the BB cups is replaced with more frame real-estate

Found this elsewhere - bearing OD is 37mm, vs 41mm for BB92 so you'll need the unique design of Trek BB

Dovebiker, I don't think that's right for the op? He doesn't have bb95
He has a pf89.5 which is an alternate name for pf41 89.5/92 (SRAM gxp the likely version needed)

Home now and taken a closer look, GXP written on the side.

‘Pressfit GXP MTB PA+ GF”

Current cartridge in there looks to be 95mm wide and the actual frame 89mm

Thanks all
