I cant be the only one this happens to. But do they actually hold any stock or just wait till you order and then order direct. Like why show in stock when it's not. And don't get me started on DX.
I'm sure that's exactly what they do
fine unless you're in a rush
To be fair I bought some bars from Tredz a couple of weeks ago and they were delivered by DX 2 days later.
I did order a seat post once and that wasn't in stock though. Few years ago mind.
I too had an order that took a little while to source, but the worst bit was the utter sh*te service from DX. Probably won't buy from Tredz again if the continue to use DX.
Bought an Evoc backpack from them the other week. Turned up within two days, well packaged, good price. Turns out it wasn't the right one so I sent it back using the return system through Asda.
I know, it is a cool story bro...
If you’re not in a rush then they provide a cheap place to shop. I’ve only placed one order with them and after about a week I got an email saying they were waiting for one item to arrive before dispatching the order. I asked if they could send it in two deliveries as I wanted the brake pads for an upcoming race and they did that for me. Fair enough service I’d say.
Generally I use my lbs for stuff but occasionally it’s fun to go online and buy a few bits for bargain prices. Tredz is pretty cheap.
Bought a few things from them recently, including a complete bike.
All arrived promptly with one exception - my Park truing stand was listed as in stock yet I then had a call to say that it was delayed from the supplier.
A bit cheeky maybe. But they offer something that nowhere else does (in my experience). That personal touch by actually giving you a call with updates rather than relying on email.
I for one think it’s jolly nice, what.
There's probably a thread like this once a month or so...
Yep, they’re a bit unpredictable. Schrodingers’ stock, if you like. The only way to find out if it existed or not is to order it. Prices can be good but never order if you’re in a hurry, and don’t waste money on overnight.
DX surprise me. They had a really good operation delivering legal papers and the like before pdf’s finally started being acceptable originals. They can operate a high quality service, maybe they’re still working out how a public facing operation needs to work?
I waited over 2 weeks for a tyre & emailed them to cancel it , the next day @ 3.30pm they replied to say it was to late as it had been sent out , @ 5.10pm they emailed me to say it had been dispatched.
I just kept it but thought it seemed a bit underhand perhaps , or perhaps I'm being unreasonable ?
Had the same thread repeated again...
They took ****in ages!
They're ok, I ordered some Madison shorts (good price, I already had one pair but really liked them) and they arrived within a day or so. I wanted to order some rigid Identiti DJ forks, the website did state that they'd have to order them in from their supplier and it'd be aaaaages because it was over the New Year holiday but I used the online chat thinger and the chap said that it'd take aaaaaaages because of the holiday but they could get them. I ordered them, they took aaaaaages (couple of weeks maybe but I knew that in advance), and when they arrived they were the right ones and everything.
So, to conclude, give a small-ish UK supplier a break and stop for a minute before you hulk out and start bashing the keyboard in FRusTRaTIOn WHERES MYS TUFF ??!!?!?!!!!1!! 🙂 I don't work for Tredz, I just understand that sometimes it's difficult to keep stock of all the possible stuff that people might want to order. You can bet your bum that if the most popular things are small, medium and large in blue and you order thusly, someone'll want one in XXXXXXXXXXXL orange just as soon as you've placed the order for small, medium and large blue things from the supplier that you only really use for those small, medium and large blue things and you have to place another £££ order (and sit on the stock) with them to justify the carriage charge... It's not possible for a relatively small outfit to physically stock everything that is available from one supplier, take motorcycle chains as an example-
"I'd like a chain for my bike please."
"Certainly, what sort of chain would you like? Is it a standard 525, or are you using a heavier duty 530? Maybe you have race-use 520 sprockets on it? Would you standard, o-ring or x-ring? Gold, nickel or plain steel finish? What brand? We can supply Renthal, DID, JT or EK. I'll also need to know what length you need please because people don't like to have to cut their own chain, because if you're using non-standard sizes the chain might need to be longer or shorter. Oh, and split link or rivet?"
And that's just for chains.
I think what bugs people mostly is that stuff shows as 'in stock' when it plainly wasn't.
Most people are fine with waiting a few weeks if they're expecting it...
But several people are right, this is a regular thread now.
I have had good service from them. No issues yet...
Kayla1 you kinda missing my point here about items not in stock.
The problem I've had now more than once is ordering an item and it clearly says in stock. Then to get an email to say it's not and will be 3 to 4 days later before it's even shipped after I have made my order. Is this false advertising by letting on there's stock so you do a buy with there £5 off code? I would never think to offer a product I don't have. Has nothing to do with stocking every product a brand has aswell. They should know what's worth keeping in stock and what's not to make money.
Anyways I got them this morning and got a full refund no problem at all so all's good there.
@kayla Smallish retailer?? They were the same company as wheelies (the cycle to work / bike insurance online provider) and both are now owned by Halfords
I didn't know that, I'd assumed they were some kind of smallish outfit maybe operating from a tiny unit or something that just happened to have accounts with loads of suppliers. My (huge) mistake! 😆
