It looks like Cycling UK don’t release the route until the end of August, but I’m back to work then, so would like to do in the next weeks. Anyone seen a gpx? I’ve seen a similar route on Wales Bikepacking, but it is only 113 miles, compared to 140 of Cycling UK route.
Thanks Keith. That’s the 113 mile route I mentioned. Lots of useful info though.
Ah that is the one I have seen and thought there was a lot of road.
Hopping they add some ne BWs in when it is launched.
On that route you could go high onto the North Wales Path to the east of Bangor and add some more odd road in.
Sounds like I might have to wait until it is officially out.
I'm in the same boat, got a week for adventure in two weeks and it looks very tempting! I messaged someone from the cyclinguk team that I met years ago on a bikepacking event but unfortunately they were not involved in the route (or unable to share, understandably!)
They are waiting to sort out the final permissions for a few bits so I suppose an early influx of riders would be undesirable, however it would be nice to know the bits that already have right-of-access 🙂
Seems annoying to wait until sept. They need to pull their finger out.
The latest issue of 'cycle', the Cycling UK mag, has a feature article on the Traws Eryri route, nice pics and description etc, very small-scale map alas which approx shows the route, it's stated in the article that the 'full route' is 125 miles but also notes 'we tested a slightly longer version' which is perhaps the 140 mile distance the OP is referring to above?
Still, not long now before the big reveal...
This seems to be the full route - certainly compliments magazine articles. Lots of up and down and quite wiggly but looks pretty good:

Wonder if it has been held back until the holidays are over to avoid a mad rush? Back to school for me then sadly.
Looks alright that. Could probably do it on a gravel bike. Defo on a hardtail.
