So second hand Travis prong fork, not fitted it and thought will do that on day off. So it had a steerer screw in the fork fitted, but I thought I would check it so loosened it off and took it out - long threaded screw and now I am left with a metal tube, a metal luck with a threaded incpsert , a top plate to sit on the fork and the screw. The tube is in the steerer of the fork halfway down and solid ie not moving.
So can I replace that gubbons with a hope head doctor? Or do I try and refit the original parts?
Yours carbon failure worried as I like my teeth,
something like this?

I'd reuse it - it'll protect the steerer from any stem or headset pressure better than a Hope one.
I'm not 100% sure here.
The expander bolt in the Prong (Strangely I took mine apart this morning) looks to have a grippier/wider surface than the head doctor. Same with my Enve MTN fork - it had a surface that wasn't as polished. I personally don't think it will grip.
Why not email michael @ travers?
Wwas. Not quite as sophisticated, a spilt metal tube and then a half domed metal piece that acts as the bung for the screw.
Rone, might do but feel a bit cheeky as I get it second hand.
Head Doctor isn't designed for a carbon fork which has a narrower ID - not recommended by Hope. Fit a proper carbon steerer bung.

Would this work?
In the picture above will that work?
yes i have one on my forks!
I did take mine out once I fitted the forks as they are quite weighty I have not died yet!!!
