Has anyone been to Finale recently by flying to Genoa with bikes and then getting a train to Finale? Looking to go at end of Sep or start of October, staying at an Airbnb and get some guided riding in. Thanks.
Not quite. On my recent visit I met some Austrians who travelled by sleeper train to Genova, and then got the local trains to Finale. So Genova to Finale is no problem. I have no experience on how to get between the airport and Genova main station, but it will definitely be possible.
Another option is an airport transfer bus. The shuttle company Finale Express is just one option, but they're friendly and helpful and can give you a price on WhatsApp.
I’ve done Pisa to Chiavari loads of times with a bike bag, and ride in/ride off from Chiavari to Genoa, it depends what train you get, the intercity ones have specific bike areas, though you cannot always book your seat in the same carriage. You will need a ticket for the bike, but if it’s in a bag, there is generally room to put it in your carriage (Book 1st class, the price is negligible but 2-1 seat layout, instead of 2-2, boom the end single seat and a bike bag fits behind the seat)
It’s a direct line but when I was last there in November, there was works on the line so no direct train, (replacement bus between stations) hence riding Genoa instead.
I’m there again for work for 2.5 weeks in June and will be going from Chiavari to Finale hopefully, I’ll you know.
Download the Trenitalia app, you can check and book everything from there.
Not from Genoa as the flights there from Scotland were non existent, but i have done Nice to Finale twice. Train from Nice to Finale was a doddle. One change from memory.
Worth taking a look at MTB Beds as they'll do your accommodation, uplifts & guiding, meals and transfers for a very good price.

THanks, we looked at MTB Beds, but £999 plus flights for a week seems a bit steep, and hoping to do something like that next year. We were hoping for a shorter (cheaper) biking break in Finale, just a few days riding, but not sure that's possible...
