Can you limit the travel on Pikes like you used to be able to do on older rockshox forks with all travel spacers?
I know I can fit a new air shaft but that will change the geometry of the bike, can I preserve the axle to crown length but limit travel? I know I could just put more air in the forks but that would also change the small bump compliance?
It's for a hardtail and I don't want full travel as it messes a bit to much with the dynamic geometry at full bottom out.
No, there is a dimple in the left stanchion which bypasses the piston and fills the negative chamber; if you limit the travel in the way you described, the negative will remain empty and the fork will be useless.
No but you can put loads of bottomless tokens in so it ramps up massively and is much harder to get deep into the travel.
Presumably the start of the stroke will remain the same with the same psi in the fork and a shed loads of tokens?
Basically, yes.
You won't need loads, but two or three will make a noticeable difference.
You can also add more Low Speed Compression damping, which will slow the fork going through it's travel. You can also remove some rebound damping, which will allow the fork to return to it's travel quicker and hold up a bit higher too.
