We're going to France tomorrow, I've left this a bit late...

Insurance recommendations please that will cover us if we smash ourselves in a France or Italy. Will be using the lifts/bikepark.

Bikes are covered so it's just for us.

Cheers!

Needed a proper rescue last year as a result of a fall. Broken pelvis and all that that involves.

Once evacuated off the trail by the local piste patrol first aiders we were passed over to the Pompiers for transfer to the medics in Morzine. Thence to Annemasse hospital. All totally seamless, all sorted by Dogtag. No complaints whatsoever.

Cheers, especially the review of a claim from Ambrose 👍 Sounds pretty nasty, hope you're all healed and back on the bike.

Dog tag is £95 or £115 for the pair of us which sounds alright.

Yellow jersey website isn't playing nice with my phone so will give it a try on a computer in the morning.

I was unimpressed with Dogtag. They refused to pre-approve surgery because I didn't have the right paperwork with me. My tolerance for obstructive call centres is low at the best of times, and in a foreign hospital with a broken limb whilst the nurse paints you with iodine is not the best time.

As it happens EHIC picked up the bill.

We're with the Austrian Alpine club now.

I'm also a member of AAC(UK) for Search and rescue, Heli evac, Medical expenses, repatriation etc. Then just take out cheapest Brits abroad in Benidorm insurance for the Airport, baggage and money bit.

That assurmix looks good, although medical expenses are quite low which I guess is because it's just to cover in resort stuff. Not sure how/if our normal travel insurance world cover any gap. Maybe one for next time.

Was with a guide in Morzine in summer, who told me that recovery off the hill and medical treatment are all free in France in the summer. Medical treatment covered by your EHIC card and recovery, even helo, free. But if you venture over into Switzerland you need full cover.

+3 for Yellow Jersey. Had to claim a few weeks ago when I broke my collarbone in Morzine and needed surgery. All handled by Allianz who are the insurer. Claim in but not yet been paid - don’t expect any problem though!

Ehic covers you in Switzerland
Fell of in Tignes and Val had to pay for treatment both times and then claim off insurance .

I'd hate to have to pay for a helicopter of the mountain and have to claim it back. I seem to remember a few on here have had that journey

Went for dog tag thanks.

Partly due to lack of time to search for anything else.

We're about 3 hours from Les Gets now having a kip next to a lake.

I got mine through Sports Cover Direct as 'top-up' so was only for the day i was riding with my lad in Morzine as w already had holiday insurance for the rest of our trip.

Can't comment on it though as we never crashed.

ERV is very good. Mate smashed himself using them last year and everything was sorted.
