You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi all,
I'm a pure XC rider, I ride an MTB to cover ground and don't care about jumps and trail centre downhill courses.
I'm looking to by the Cube AMS 110 (110mm of travel), but why shouldn't I go for the 130mm travel option? The 130 is heavier, but can anyone advise me of any other reasons to buy / not buy the 130, given the type of riding I do?
Help would be much appreciated.
Al
Why FS? Would a 100mm hardtail not suit better (from the description of your riding)?
Most xc only riders don't bother with FS a HT will be a lot lighter and cheaper/more pimped for your budget
each to their own though...
Hi,
thanks for your reply - I've always rode hardtail but find that I get a bad back on long rides and also that I need more comfort that a hardtail affords.
With that in mind do you have an answer to my original question?
Cheers again,
Al

In the first instance I'd take a look at your current HT setup, maybe even look at some new bits?
based on what you say your riding is like, i would go for a lighter weight shorter travel option.
I'm facing the same problem, I'm returning from 6yrs tt racing...I want a pimp bike to keep me interested and I carry permenant injuries to my neck and shoulder from various crashes..Is 120/140mm overkill for the peaks/north downs and the odd welsh away day...90% of the time i'll be in the mudfest that is bedfordshire 🙂
