The Home Office currently have Mrs Q and my passport at the moment for processing her visa. The turn around time is said to be 12 weeks maximum on it.

We are planning on going back to see the MIL end of July which would be about 17 weeks at that point.

If our passports aren't back, would we be covered by travel insurance? THey do state that any reason we know for not being able to travel isn't covered, but by the HO guidelines they should be back and to the best of my knowledge the would be.

So are we covered or not with my travel insurance for this?

Only you can answer that by checking the small print of your travel insurance, or by phoning them.

I suspect that if you were told that the passports would be returned within 12 weeks, and you are flying in 17 weeks, then you should be okay; although I wouldn't like to second-guess insurance companies.
