Just been looking at Citroen berlingos the newer shape model wanted to fit a minimum of 2 bikes in and a few bits and bobs. Does anyone use one? Will they fit? Will I have to take wheels off? Or is there something better on the market?

Wanting to pay no more than £3500 use it for the bikes and a bit of a runaround to so not something massive and ugly as it's going to sit on the drive

If there's anything this place loves more than woodburners, skodas or a fight about practically anything, it's a Berlingo.

Got a newer Berlingo. It's ace. XTR version has air-con which is useful for drying things out and three separately removable rear seats. Easy to fit three people and bikes and kit into. Can also fit two bikes, two BoB yaks, two dogs and a weekend's load of food/ kit for a bothy trip.

I look like a postman in mine.

You can fit loads in them and the back seats can be completely removed. Reckon you can fit 2 bikes in whole easily without taking the seats out but I have not tried as yet.

Even though I look like an old man driving it, I love mine.

Evening. 3.5k idnt going to buy you much of a newer shape one? It'd be higher miles/leggy etc?

Shock horror...why not a Xsara Picasso. Im embarrassed to say it was one of the best buys I've ever made carwise

Got a new shape XTR, can fit 2 complete bikes in the back no probs (with the seats out) and still have plenty room for kit.
To be fair, it does look like a mobility bus but its a proper handy vehicle ... just shy of 50mpg ave as well.

3.5k will get you a tidy petrol new shape,

The 1.4 is passable if you dont do much motorway. The 1.6 is ok all round except poor fuel economy.

The new shape is head and shoulders above the old ones for interior.

If your lookig at diesels youll either have starship milage or be lookig at an m59(2nd gen) face lift

I have 2 m59s ( van and multispace) both not missed a beat as far as im concerned.

Van will take 3 complete bikes - car only 2

I was thinking for of a van the 3 seater front seat type. One I had my eye on is a short wheel base and has it boarded behind the seats so no poking wheels through gaps.
Thought I would use the ban more and not look like a mobility car. Although I do quite like the vtr think I would get away better and use the van more plus for work etc
Just unsure if the bikes will go in don't want to be messing about taking muddy wheels off in pouring down rain when I'm nackered and ready for drive home

Hi

I have got a 2009 new shape Peugeot Partner. I would say if you kept the bulkhead in you would have problems getting to bikes in. I have taken the side out behind the passages seat and can get two bikes in easy and all the gear that goes with riding.

I think they are one of the best little vans on the market and you should be able to get an ok one for £3500.

Mine is a 1.6 hdi and get great mpg and is very comfortable even on long journeys.

Let me know if you want any picture as happy to email you some over.

Jez

The Partner & the Berlingo are one & the same. As for wheelbases, they are only available with one wheelbase, but choice of two bodylengths.

valley- i intend to use it for the bikes, a bit of work and as a car. will have to give the guy a bell tomorrow hopefully he hasn't sold it.
i was looking at the berlingos today just from the outside and they look short although a bike won't fit so it put me off

Our new works van is a Berlingo, I begrudgingly love it - is it as good as my Exeo? No, but it doesn't my do anything wrong, it'll do a constant 80mph well enough, it's only got 90bhp but it doesn't feel slow, I'd happily drive it to the Alps and back. The seats are comfy enough and ours has got air-con, cruise control (which is "impossible" at the moment according to the dash) and sat-nav.

Downsides? It does 47mpg on average, not terrible but my Exeo which weighs more and has nearly twice the power does more than that, it's quiet loud inside* and the radio is crap* and I get a little bit of wheel buzz than gives me a bit of pain after a day in it due to a plate in my wrist.

*compared to my Exeo which is very well sound insulated and has a very fancy Bose radio.

I'd reckon the car version would be quieter.

My brother in law has a 55 reg with only 65k that he's looking to sell soon if that's any use? It's in Harrogate. Oh, and it's just been MOT'd. Price will be whatever Parkers price guide says.
