I am just building up my new to me 2018 Transition Smuggler frame and found that I have clearance issues.

The rear wheel is Easton Arc 27 on a Pro 2 Evo hub that I converted to boost with a Schwalbe Hans Dampf 2.35 tyre.

I’m aware these frames are known for being tight on clearance but this is practically touching.

What rear wheels/tyre setups are you guys running ?

Thanks
Ben

Looks like the wheel needs re-dished with the Boost conversion endcaps fitted.

What he said, and is that tyre a family heirloom or something? You'd be screwed if you had one with fresh tread, eh?

Glad I'm not the only one who thought the wheel was out of dish.
My Patrol wasn't great, but I ran a 30mm rim with a 2.4 DHR2 and it still had enough room in the mud.

Diy dude, dead easy 🙂 half a turn on RHS spokes, half a turn off LHS. See if it's central by flipping it over and seeing if it's in the same place (you may need to remove the disc) if not, another half turn 🙂

My old Smuggler was a 2017, so possibly the previous design if the new one came in 2018.

Anyway, FWIW I only ever ran 2.3in tyres on the rear but never had any issues with those.

Looks like you’ve put in boost spacers that have moved the rim to the left hand side. Reckon you’d be fine with the rim central - just really-dish it. Tighten the spokes on the drive side by 1/4 turn each - then loosen each spoke on the non-driveside 1/4 turn. See how it sits - if you need to go further then another 1/4 turn of each etc.

Also buy a new tyre - that one is ****ed!

Hope's conversion kit doesnt require a re-dish, flip the wheel to see if it's an alignment issue, I once had a Commencal frame with terrible rear end alignment that looked like that.

The V1 smuggler was tight, yet the V2 they did nothing about it! 2.4 DHR2 fits in fine, in claggy mud it will drag against the frame a bit.

As others have said, that wheel needs its dish checking. Always found the transitions to be pretty straight, so I'd place bets on the wheel dish being out.
