Heres my new (to me) Sentinel:

Got a really good deal on a used frame and shock, most of the other parts are from the Stumpy. Im waiting on some nicer handlebars but these will do for now.
Spec is:
Yari RC 160mm forks
Deluxe Shock
XT M8000 brakes
Superstar Switch Ultra hubs, Tactic AM rims
SLX Groupset (old XT cranks)
Brand - X dropper
Minion DHF and DHR2
Nothing super fancy but all functional.

Your tile grouting could do with some TLC.

Been tempted by these, frame only second hand is almost in my price range.

You taken it for a spin? How was it?

That patio only got started on yesterday haha, its getting finished today. Think that answers the dog poo question too...

Yes ive done a day at Stiniog and a lap of the Marin trail on it - im sure it will come as no surprise that it was excellent at Stiniog. Not too bad on the Marin either i thought it climbed better than i expected but that could just be new bike syndrome, obvIously it was great on the downs. Its not light but nor am i.

Got the smuggler, great bikes I’ve gotta say just replaced the bearings with enduro  max bearings ready for the new season and rear shox is going off next week for a service.
Can highly recommend getting a coil rear shox on there really brings them to the next level.
also there’s a transition owners group on Facebook if you fancy that sort of thing😜

A few changes in the 9 months or so since i got the bike.

New Zeb Select+ forks in 160mm flavour which arrived this week.

Syncros Revelstoke 2.5 wheelset after a cracked a rim on the rear superstar.

Sunrace MX something derailleur and shifter (got them cheap from work so thought id give em a try). Pretty impressed so far. Bit awkward to take the back wheel out but aside from that the shifting is easily as good as the SLX it replaced.

Raceface crankset (cheap and also black which matches the bike)

XT 4 pot calipers replacing the old 2 pots.

Fabric Scoop saddle.

Bigger tyres.

Burgtec bars and grips, nukeproof stem. Also a bonty dropper lever.

New 200mm dropper on its way this week.

All in all it feels a different bike now.

looks snice! i noticed quite a few of the frames second hand. reckon i might end up with one. partly just as they fit most of my geometry criteria at a price i can afford.

anyone any theories why there were so many 2nd hand frames?

Possible reason for sentinel surge in second hand Sales  is the V2 release and shipment coming in to the uk recently

Like me I changed out my smuggler during the summer and bought the new model spur on release.
or people could just be flush with grant money and have bought something new and different only guessing of cause.

oh i didnt realise there was a new version. well i knew about the spur.
so is yours a v1 sentinel tenburner?
i see the new one's up to 150mm, not for me then, just too much bike

Don’t think the extra 10mm spoils the new Sentinel if anything it’s more of an all rounder compared to the V1. Always felt the V1 was a proper sled, V2 feels far more sprightly to me. Not owned either but ridden both briefly and while they share a name they feel quite different. The V2 Sentinel can be dropped to 140mm travel with a spacer in the shock and you can run a 150mm fork too, so do that with a Pike rather than a Lyrik and it’ll be a great all rounder. I went for a Spur though as even at 140mm a sentinel is too much for me!

Hi yeah mines a v1. I think the v2 is currently only in carbon but id certainly be tempted by an alloy v2 if/when one arrives.
