Have recently had my 2016 Scout frame sand blasted and painted, but they did a rubbish job protecting it, and have worn down the m17 threads in the chainstay (my fault for not taking it to somewhere better). Unlikely that the threads will last, so does anyone have/know someone who has a spare scout chainstay (maybe from damaging the front triangle/another part of the frame) I could buy off them?
Have contacted the supplier and they don't have any in stock. Any chainstay from a 2015,'16 or '17 scout would work. Any help and advise would be much appreciated so I can get back to riding, cheers guys!
I snapped the chainstay on my carbon one a while back. Brink, who I got it from, we’re great at sourcing and fitting a replacement. Might be worth a call?
Cheers mate good shout, I'll give them a call after the weekend
Can it be helicoiled?
When you said you tried the supplier i take it you mean Windwave which is Transition's UK distro
Id be pretty surprised if you can find a rear end for a 2016 Scout here in the UK, if Windwave don't have one then no shops would, its not like its a consumable part
When i snapped the chainstay on my 2016 Scout Windwave stripped the rear end off a brand new bike so i could get back to riding whilst they sent my snapped rear end back to Transition so they could investigate why it snapped
Helicoiling would be your best option, id be speaking to the sand blasters and ask if they would help with the repair
I got one from windwave early last year, they had it shipped from the US. £140
Worth a try
Cheers for the replies. The frame is currently with a bike restoration workshop, so I'll see what they say about helicoiling after the bank holiday.
Windwave didn't have any in stock themselves, but are asking transition if they have any so there's a chance I could go with the shipping option too but it seems unlikely. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Had no luck chasing a 2015/16 scout front triangle from wind wave last week. Worth a call though, ask for Andy he was very helpful with my enquiry
