You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Just realised we fly into Geneva on Friday and have no transfer booked to get out to chatel. Any suggestions on best way to do it, can I get a coach? $ of us going, last time we arranged a lift from the chalet rental company, but this time its been done privately so not an option
Also, can anyone recommennd a guide company for the day in the area.

Give these guys a call.
It's very short notice mind.
Then share a cab.
I've always used Lloyd at Professional Transfers in the past - drop him a line, he may well be able to help you with some guiding too as he knows some great off-beaten-track stuff

I would check your flights if I were you. French air traffic are on strike for the next 6 days and loads of flights are being cancelled.
Transfers, as above, or I've used these before, at least for ski transfers - http://www.a-t-s.net/
Might be some local bus transfers also.
Guiding - You realise it's Passportes du Soleil weekend? If not, you can just attach yourself to the route and follow it. Easy enough to find a map, but it's waymarked anyway. I would assume the route remains waymarked for the season, though not sure. If you wanted to do it that is. If you want other stuff, can't help, though there are plenty of guides I'd assume. Is as said short notice though. Still, a lot is on maps and waymarked. Chatel itself is one big bike park.
p.s. if you wanted an entry for Passportes, we have one spare, though starting in Morzine - http://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/anyone-need-an-entry-for-the-passportes 😉
+1 for Lloyd at Professional Transfers. I've known him for years, and he's an absolutely brilliant guide, who happens to own an airport transfer company.
Convenient, eh?!
How are UK guides getting on in France atm? Saw a report about some ski instructors being arrested recently?
We have used skiday Gonzales for the transfer (summertime too).
Jo at rideability is a good guide.

Guiding and instructing are two very different things, guiding can be got around, instructing without the proper sign off and qualifications in France is another matter all together.
Ski instructors have been bullied by the locals for years. But then they do that too their customers as well. Bloody rude ESF.

Really? from what I've heard/read about it's exactly the same thing and unless you are signed up as a guide you shouldn't be guiding.

Not sure how old that is but covers most of what I've read and heard whilst out there a couple of years ago. We had a group "agreement" with our host/guide 😉 He no longer works in France, moved over to Garda and other interests.
Try Alpaca, run by a guy Darren, who also owns his own chalet in Chatel. Will probably but un officially be able to show you round some of the best trails in area too.
These guys are very good, they run a chalet in Les Gets at which I've stayed when biking and I've used the transfer service a few times too.

As for guiding, the official MTB school MCF do guiding, it about euro 250 a day. You may be better served by searching out some routes on here yourself.
