Any one have any recommendations for online training plans? Currently have some motivation to get myself a bit fitter, the riding round here is so flat and lifeliess that I might get a bit more out of it if I can ride further/faster and shift about 15lbs in the process.

Have a look into training with power meters. I'm new to the whole power thing but found an attachment for my non smart turbo trainer to provide a power reading to use with online apps. I wasn't fussed about the accuracy as long as it's consistent for my own goals. I did a few FTP test to find a starting point and set a goal to improve by spring. Training in different zones helps the time go by too and gives you something to focus on.

If you're looking to train outside more, try apps like strava to monitor your improvements on your own routes and segments. That was a big motivator for me.
