Hi guys,
As I am still on part time furlough I have been making the most of my Fridays of heading out on the trail bike for a ride, I'm planning on the same again this week.
Me and the missus only have the one car between us, as she is at work I'll need to get the train from Leeds City Centre.
Does anyone have any recommendations that are easily accessible by train? I have already done Bingley/Hebden Bridge. My riding background is downhill racing so I do love a good technical descent, but I am not scared of a big climb!
Any help appreciated!
More Calderdale stuff. Hebden is the default location people head to in Calderdale but theres arguably better and certainly less crowded stuff between Sowerby Bridge and Brighouse. The whole valley between those two towns is like one epic trail centre!

I stayed in Brighouse the other week and seemed like there would be some good riding! Do you have any examples of routes etc? Thanks a lot!
Carlisle-Settle line (plus Bentham Line) offers a wealth of possibilities, more of the XC variety.
I (used to) get the train to Settle, Horton, Dent (which is already halfway up a hill) or Clapham and ride back to Skipton, or vice versa.
Loads of stuff at Ilkley Moor, although if you're from Leeds-ush, you probably already know about these trails. Not a trail centre, but Ilkley MTB have been very active building some great stuff up there over the past few years.
Off the train at Prestatyn and within minutes you will be climbing the relatively tame Fforddlas, before looking for your good legs and granny gearing up Hillside as you head towards Gwaenysgor village. Stunning views from car park just before summit of ~550 feet climbng in under 1 mile.
Big handful of other approx 250-700 foot climbs between that summit (some with serious ramps that don't quite reach the lunacy of Hillside's ~33%), Rhuddlan and Rhuallt.
Cracking climb just south west of Denbigh centre following the B4501 all the way up to Llyn Brenig, ~7 miles climbing ~1200 feet including a ~1 mile descent part way up, known as the more exiting name of "Road To Hell."
If you're on facebook jump onto the Calderdale MTB group. Theres a wealth of info on there.
Should be able to pick up most stuff on Strava etc and ideally you'd want a guide to show you the best bits where there are loads of options (like in Elland Woods) but basically do Brighouse > Razzy Woods > cross the valley to do Elland Woods a couple of times > canal/road to North Dean > ups/downs in North Dean to Norland > lap of Norland > retrace your steps back to Brighouse doing more stuff in North Dean and a climb up past Park Lane school and cutting into Elland Woods again soon after leaving Siddal. Spin along the canal back to Brighouse (or loop over the top through Southowram and drop off the beacon into Halifax station).
climach x and dyfi forest off piste - 10 min ride from the station
Can you get a train to Hope / Edale from Leeds? If so then you've pretty much got the whole Dark Peak at your disposal.
Get one of the slow trains to Sheffield that stops everywhere. Get off at chapeltown, the (second to) last stop before Sheffield. Wharncliffe is a shortish ride up the hill...
