Will be staying in Bristol city centre on a union course next week and was thinking of taking the bike for some evening entertainment as I'll be in the hotel on my own.

Anyone got any suggestions on where I could look at that isn't too far away? Will have the van so driving there is no issue, but don't want to be going miles as its a fairly late finish for the course and I'll need to sort out eating in the evenings.

TIA

If you don’t want to go far, Ashton Court and Leigh woods are very close - you could cycle there up Park street / through Clifton and across the Clifton suspension bridge.

There are marked trail loops in both AC and LW although they’re not devastatingly exciting.

Leigh Woods has a lot of unmarked unofficial trails that are quite technical and natural.

What day are you riding? There are a group of us who generally have some kind of ride each week - I’m normally out on a Wednesday night plus a few others. Some people tend to go out on the Tuesday night instead.

Thanks Joe,

I knew about Ashton Court but couldn't remember the name!

Have no idea when/if I'll be riding as I tend to play things like that by ear due to 'actual' finish times etc. While I am thinking I'll get a chance, it does depend on what happens though.

If you decide to ride Wednesday drop me a pm - I normally get to Ashton Court main gate for 6.30pm and ride until around 8pm. Can either show you round the marked trails or some off piste, or a bit of both. Would imagine there will be a couple of other lads around - think Ant said he maybe out too.

Pretty much as Joe says, trails in leigh woods and Ashton court are easy to find. There's plenty of off piste in LW too.

The mendips are a short drive south, theres more near Cranham/painswick if you want to explore north.

A few of us are out most Tuesdays in leigh woods. Usually meet about 7:30, ride till dark then stop for a pint of apple sports beverage.  You're more than welcome to join, drop me a pm or email's in my profile.

Yes Ashton Court/Leigh Woods would seem to fit your week, plenty of time to get a good lap of Leigh Woods in and combine it with Ashton Court.

We are up there on Thursday this week, normally get going around 6pm so if you want a bit of guiding on the off piste stuff at Leigh woods drop me a PM.
