Just moved house and I am on the look out for good trails other than going West towards the Dales or East towards the Moors, is there anything else close to Darlington to be pointed at?

Also can anyone suggest a good loop near Osmotherley or Cleveland Hills.

Thanks

Guisborough Woods or Hamsterely Forest both have plenty of trails to offer

The nearest decent trails to Darlington are at Hamsterley. There's nothing much else worth your while closer than Dales or NYM.
Loads of good stuff from Osmotherley area (Square Corner is normal start point) or Cleveland Hills. PM me if you want some suggestions.

jate, last time i went from square corner the tracks I'd been on in the past had "NO BIKES" signs all over the place.
Don't suppose you could PM me some suggestions could you 🙂

I'm not sure what state Guisborough is in at the moment? I keep/kept seeing posts on bookface about logging operations destroying loads of trails.

Guisborough is just muddy at the moment and needs a bit of time to dry out.
The logging has destroyed maybe a handful of trails. But they are loads and loads of trails to find in Guisborough.
Also Chopgate woods

Where were the signs around SQ for no bikes?
The only track that I can think you might want to ride which is potentially sensitive is the one that goes initially north and then east off Black Hambleton (and which to be fair isn't actually a ROW at all other than via right to roam). There is a sign saying no bikes where it descends to meet the bridleway at the foot of Lower Lock Moor, but wasn't one at the top the last time I was there (although that is not for a while).
Oh and there is another no bikes sign in one of the woods to the east, but you have to be very much off piste to come across that one.

Hi
I live in Darlington and me and some mare ride at guisborough on Tuesday.
It's gopping at the minute so we will be avoiding the area for a couple of weeks at least.
We ride most weekends and you're welcome to tag along if you want.
Go all over Dales, NYM, hamsterley, Dallby, lakes etc
Not that fit at the minute but we're hoping to be building it up in the coming weeks.
Email in profile.
Cheers
Steve
