Long time no post..

I'm heading to Faskally/Pitlochry next week with the family and am looking for some trailer friendly routes for me, the missus, one kid in the trailer and another on a trailgator. Minor roads are ok, offroad is best!

Cheers

From Blair Atholl you can go up the Tilt as far as you want and then turn back the way you came. You can also make a wee circuit by going along the track up Glen Banvie, turning South and then returning via Falls of Bruar and Old Blair.

From Calvine you can access the old A9 which is now NCN7. That takes you off-road almost to Dalwhinnie.

From Loch na Craige (S of Aberfeldy) you can do a wee loop round Loch Kennard.

there's stuff that climbs hard uphill out of Pitlochry towards Aberfeldy.

Also a minor forest track that runs above the B road towards Logierait. Expect stiff climbs on that too TS.

The back road to Blair Atholl opens up a wide variety of stuff, out towards Glen Tilt and Glen Briar to explore.

hope that helps
Callum

Escape Route bikes on the main street do the best coffee in town and can help you out with routes.

There is a lot of easy off road stuff from the town but there are odd steps here and there which would scupper it with the trailer. There are plenty of quiet road options.

Scotroute's suggestion from Blair Atholl is a good one. Also if you head a bit south on the A9 to Dalguise or Dunkeld / Birnam there are a lot more options for offroad routes on easy forest tracks and land rover tracks. Birnam Arts centre is a great base (good coffee, Beatrix Potter exhibition).

Thanks folks, sure I'll find something!

Scotroutes - I've been up Glen Tilt a lot many years ago but couldn't remember the track.

tomd - I don't mind the odd portage so steps are fine 🙂

Ah well if you don't mind the odd portage Escape Route will point you a couple of good routes. The only problem with Pitlochry is that it's in the join of the OS maps. It's worth getting the maps on your phone as it really is the sort of place that rewards a bit of exploration.
