Hi All,

I am looking to get out of Devon for the day on the 22nd or 23rd Feb. I have been to Cwmcarn not so long back so would like to try somewhere different?

Any recommendations? What is Verderer like? Anywhere else?

Like the title says, say up to 2hrs from Plymouth/Exeter?

Any pics or a mini review would be good. 🙂

Quantocks.

Good point. Do you know anywhere I can get routes for that area?

There's endless trails across the Quantocks. We always ride out of Holford. 85% is cheeky trail stuff. Your best option is probably to ask a local to escort you. I'd highly recommend it though

Afan isn't much further than Cwmcarn, neither is the FoD, especially when you don't pay for fuel 😉

I really want to get to Brechfa this year but that's a bit of a drive for a days riding.

The Quantocks are great but as already said, a guide is essential to get the best out of it.

I'm planning in digging my bike out again soon, I've not ridden over the last few months for various reasons.

Hey Bucko! Hope your well buddy?

I suspect that nearer the summer Brechfa will be in the plan (you could always get a seat with us). I'll let you know if that happens, I think it could be a two day'er and combined with Brechfa?

As for the Quantocks - that is what I heard (Guided is best), so maybe I'll be able to get in on an STW ride at some point?

Afan not much further than Cwncarn 😯 Just checked and it's about another hour at least!

FoD was where I was thinking - I have heard that some of the trails are pretty good? Verderer is at FoD and I have heard a few things about riding there, but was hoping someone might come up with some 'more' detail.

Dartmoor, exmoor?

I've ridden both quite extensively and fancied a change of scenery.

Mendips is worth a day's riding, plus loads of stuff in the Cotswolds when it dries out. Wye Valley is amazing, but you'd need a guide.

What about Blandford Forum bike park if you really want man made stuff?

IMO - you'll struggle to find better riding than Exmoor and Dartmoor within 2 hours of Plymouth (until the South West coast path is opened up to bikes!)
