Hi there
So, I'm planning to head down to the Quantocks this Saturday. Haven't been there for a while and my question is: how minging are conditions down there at the moment? Will it be muddy hell? Is it still worth it? Where could I best avoid a Somme-style early death? And morally should I avoid riding in this kind of rank weather in order to help preserve the trails?
Thoughts most appreciated 🙂
I would say the best bit of kit to take is a snorkel ! Bound to be a mud fest and it still chucking it down with no sign of stopping . Combes will be running water ridge won't be so bad your choice really going to be spending a lot of time on the post ride cleanup not selling it am I ? m not a fan of bog snorkelling but if that's your thang.
Go to a trail ctr instead I reckon.
Im off to the south of France, so Im quite enjoying these threads in a Schadenfreude manner.
The better drained trails were fine, with some muddy patches, last Sunday before the rain. It will not be good now. I'm planning to hit Cwmcarn/FOD/Haldon on Saturday and AC&LW on Sunday with Roland (oldfart).
Thanks for advice! Maybe I could just zorb down instead. Or maybe surf.
Sounds like you guys have a much more sensible plan, enjoy!
FOD was muddy as **** last weekend and after this weeks rain I'd give it a miss buzz.
Stewart Parkend in FOD has a weather station that measured 50mm of rain today and that's where all the trails start ! Wasn't there a landscape at Haldon recently ?
