Hi guys,

My wife rides an XS Specialized Hardrock which has around  13.5 inch seat tube. I would like to get her a decent full suspension trail bike and was looking at a Vitus Escarp in small (15 inch) but not sure if it will be too big. Anyone of 5.0ft riding similar?

Mrs is 5ft 2. Rides a Juliana which appears to be a great bike. Not cheap though.

I'm 5ft 3 and I often struggle to get bikes that are small enough in terms of standover (especially as I've got a comparatively long torso, so a lot of the smallest women-specific bikes seem to have really short top tubes).  Both Trek and Specialized tend to do smaller full sussers (I'm just about big enough for a small Stumpjumper, they do an XS Rhyme that's the same frame though, IIRC).

However, at the Malverns Classic I was told that at 5ft 3, I'd probably be between a small and a medium on an Ibis Mojo, as they're small bikes.

My better half is 5"0" and rides an XS Pivot Mach 5.7. Fab bike, might be able to pick one up for reasonable money these days, too. No way we're parting with our though!

It's all about the standover mate. If it hits her bits it's to big.

Wife is 5ft2. Need plenty of room as trails are on slopes obviously so often one leg further down.

My missus is 5'2" and rides a small Juliana Roubion and a 15.5 inch Trek Procaliber. Both bikes seem to be a good fit (Juliana has a 125mm Reverb almost to the collar).

Mrs_oab is 5' exactly.

She rides Trek Superfly XS/13.5". She would also fit the 15" - it was I think 5mm longer!

Iirc Trek do a 15" FS.

One thing I found trying to find bikes for my wife is that she really needed to try them in person. At 5'1" she has very short legs, so standover was critical.

In the end she went for a 15.5" remedy with shorter cranks and we ditched the stock dropper which was stupid long and minimal drop (replaced with a 100mm ks Lev Integra).

Not sure but 26" wheels would be too big - is there a 20" wheel MTB for the vertically challenged?

I think one of my mates is selling a pivot. She is 5’0” and a very decent rider. It’s a great condition bike. It’s on pinkbike I think.

Hi Lorne,

I'm 5 feet tall and have my Pivot Mach 6 frame size XS year 2015 full carbon for sale as a full bike, but may split... the XS Pivot is aimed at 4'10 to 5'2ish - It's 650b full she with Fox 36 forks. It's an amazing bike for us smaller riders:)

Oh 5.0ft. Sorry, as you were.

Actually Ms Slow is a 5 footer and road frames in particular have been hard work in the past. Better choices these days though - sometimes not even pink!
