You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Got a fright today as a couple of relatively well trafficked roads near us hadn't been gritted, my riding buddy took a couple of falls for the team before we sacked off our intended route and just did an out and back along the nearby A-Roads.
I checked out the Scotgov gritter tracker which on the whole seems like a great resource but I wasn't sure if it was working, either it wasn't showing any but the most recently gritted roads, or they simply haven't gritted any but the most major routes in the area.
Any way of e.g. looking back over the last 12hrs to see if an intended route has been gritted?
I think the gritter tracker only covers trunk roads which are managed through bear, but non-trunk routes are covered by local authorities and don't appear on the maiin map, so if you are off the major routes it's a bit of a lottery. We live on a corner and the road at the front (although not a particularly busy road) is gritted, but the road to the side of the house is not.
Your LA may have it's own map - Fife show the different priorities for different roads: https://fifecouncil.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=1c5bea14d68e479c92ed6b941fd4de55

Ahh... That makes sense, there was no way they HADN'T gritted some of the roads not shown on the Scotgov tracker. Will see what Perth and Kinross show.
All our club rides were caught out this morning, on and off road - all had crashes, all bar one was cut short or abandoned, two riders hospitalised, one by ambulance. Apparently people rode past the crash sites with no problems on the way to the meet up point, 15-30 minutes later black ice everywhere.
Also with budgets cut and staff absences, no guarantee that roads normally gritted will get done in time.
No ice forecast here around Derby, but rain overnight and the temperature forecast to be 1 degree made me think having an extra hour in bed was a good idea, and I'm glad I did.
