Morning all,

Due to a leaky shed my venerable (8+ year old) track pump is now rusted to shit and spraying brown water from it's nozzle.

Another odd series of circumstances has left me with a £45 Halfords voucher.

So, based on these two facts, I'm once again calling upon the combined wisdom of the STW forums to offer up any recommendations. Ideally I'd like to use my Halfords voucher (either that or an unlucky nephew is getting a crap Christmas present) and I don't mind chipping in a bit of actual cash on top if something is worth that bit extra.

FWIW I run 2.3" Minion / High Roller II on 30mm rims, tubeless.

Cheers all!

Do you already have an airshot or equivalent tubeless tyre seating device?  If not get a combined one, perhaps.  I have a TopPeak JoeBlow that's OK.  Gauge is reliable (in that it always reads the same for a given pressure, it seems) but not accurate (or my Topeak tyre pressure tool isn't accurate 🙂 )

I don't already have a tyre seating device: it's on my Christmas list 😉

There's a TopPeak JoeBlow  combined one on the Halfords site but, at £139 it seemed a bit steep. I figured ~£50 for a track pump and ~£50 for a separate Airshot and, if one breaks, I don't have to replace the lot.

Halfords sell the Joe Blow Sport for £25. Had one for around 10 years.  It's great.

I've had a Topeak Joe Blow since the late Nineties. It hasn't missed a beat, thoroughly recommended…

Looks like the answer is a JoeBlow Sport for £25 and the Schwalbe Tubeless Tyre Booster (£55 at Halfords). That'll eat up my voucher + £35 but seems like a worthwhile purchase.

(FWIW the Schwalbe booster is apparently an Airshot with a different paintjob according to MBR).

I have that exact combo.  The Schwalbe Booster is great, but doesn't have a quick decouple, so it's a little bit of a fiddle to remove and then stick a finger over the valve before replacing the core.  I 'think' the Airshot has a better system on the hose end, but not sure...

Joe Blow Mountain is good. Better for high volume MTB tyres and guage is calibrated for lower pressures

I'd suggest the joe blow sport if combining it with an airshot, you'll want to pump that to 100psi or whatever.

TBH even the £5 red halfords bikehut track pump was surprisingly good, I did work out what who made it but can't remember now. Lasted years of abuse before I forgot it in a car park :(.

The only one I would never buy again is my SKS "29er" pump, every single component is crap. The barrel is too tall to get to the top of the stroke for even me at 6ft, the gauge either sticks at zero or is wildly inaccurate, the 'automatic' pump head doesn't work without back pressure so if you've got a flat tyre it seems to sense that as less than atmospheric and refuses to blow air in it. It is complete and utter garbage.
