You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I've downloaded the Wessexway as a Track and intend to follow it on my Etrex 30, is it best to convert into a route on Basecamp and follow that or leave it as a Track?
Thanks for any help.
I always convert tracks to routes. Can't even remember why but that's what I do.
If you don't have the same maps on your GPS as the route was planned on then you run the risk of it re-routing.
In Garmin terms:
A track is a recording of an activity that you or someone else has done.
A route is something you've planned using waypoints and then loaded into the device.
The important word in the above is "waypoints". Garmins will only handle so many waypoints so if you create a route with lots of them, most programs create a waypoint with every click, then the unit will struggle. There's a "per route" limit and a unit limit on waypoints.
Best leave it as a track 😉
Thanks for the advice, will leave as a track,
I use tracks on mine, which is just a line drawn on a map. The main drawback is that you won't get clear directions on a figure-eight-type circuit, so you'll need to have an idea of the direction to take at the crossover
I also prefer routes.
It means the garmin sleeps until you get to a way point.

Better IMO
