Finally got hold of a track bike! Yay! Got a few questions though.
1) The chain looks like a normal road SS chain, but the (Miche) chainring has 1/8 stamped on it. Does this mean it can accept a track chain? Not necessarily going to change it, but I might if I end up having to resize it due to gear changes, not sure.
2) I assume track tyres are different to road tyres? I think it has road tyres on.
3) The BB looks weird (Miche again) - it looks flush with the shell, and I can't see where a tool would even go. Presumably this is some kind of track standard, and there's a tool for it. Are the cranks likely to be normal square taper?
1. Yes, most likely, though it depends on the rear cog being compatible as well. Wrap a vmx style chain around the cog to see, it will be obvious if it does not fit.
2. Nope. They are the same / can be the same as each other.
3. Most likely just very flush, or even slightly recessed into the frame shell. It's probably a standard english 68mm shell, with square taper BB. Depends on your frame. Google the cranks and it will let you know.
1) It will fit 1/8 is track, 3/32 is road.
2) I hope not. No dual compound tyres on the boards.
3) Miche BB takes a Park freewheel 7 (campag I think) tool to fit. Mine didn't perfectly centre.
Congratulations. Welcome to the club.
