everything.....even running water...... 😆
I also have a set of 32c cross tyres I can pop in the car if anybody needs some.
1st dibbs? (in case Tony tells me the ones I have on are crap) 😉
I've actually just checked, and not only are they only 28, I also realised they're over 20 years old (haven't been used for over 10). I'll pop them in anyway, but wouldn't rely on them being better than what you've got (though they do have a nice low profile tread which should roll well, and don't seem to be cracking). Depending on what I'm using I might have either 28 road tyres or 35 cross tyres spare as well.
Only alerted to this because of an email from Jim last night on an unrelated thing. Would have liked to have come, thought about driving over for a ride on the Sunday but it's a bit of a trek and no doubt the other half has some diy related crap planned in for me.
I'll keep an eye out for the next one, whenever that may be.
couple of places left yet Matt.
My cold seems to have eased off today, things are looking up.
Don't think I'll be riding Dalbeattie on Friday, I'll save my legs for Sunday.
I'm staying in Dumfries tonight, if I can get to Fridays ride (by bike) is there anyone going there I can jump in with to get a lift to Newton Stewart in exchange for some beer tokens? No worries if not, I'll head straight across.
I'd love to ton but I'm working Saturday morning so Sunday was the only option but for a day trip it's a bit too far, 3hrs each way according to google. I've bought just the bike for this sort of thing as well. 🙁
just a quick heads up, if anyone is interested.
a few of us are meeting at Dalbeattie trail carpark at 12.30 tomorrow afternoon.
gonna ride there and then head for the hostel after that.
So is this an alternative to JY at KT? I have tomorrow confirmed off work now, and I'm keen to show off my radical skill set.
I've got a bit of work to do, before I head down from Inners tomorrow... I'm aiming to leave in time for either the DB, or the KT ride... though, I was favouring KT. Can't guarantee I'll be there though, but if you see a red skoda octavia estate with a singular swift and possibly my Green Shand Stoater on the roof, then say hi!
I think junky is riding kt. me and my pals are riding dalbeattie cos they have never done it.
Ahh, JY at KT sounds like some sort of lubricant anyway.
Hmm, having checked the info, the blue trail at KT looks a bit more friendly than at DB - has anybody ridden it, and is this pic cherry picking one of the toughest bits?

I could ride that, but it won't be much fun if it's all like that - the swoopy singletrack pictured for the other trails looks a lot nicer.
Not that I'll likely be riding with anybody, but I might as well go somewhere other people are going.
I am Riding KT tomorrow With DONK of this parish
Aim to be there for 1 as its 3 1/2 hours away
Red 206 with about 4 X its value of bikes on the tow bar 8)
If anyone wants to meet mail me and I will send my phone number
Pie - no mail in profile so I cannot mail you
What is the consensus of the quickest route from Edinburgh or the Forth Road Bridge. Aiming to leave about 5 in the afternoon from Fife.
Google maps is suggesting three routes with about 5 minutes between them.
Thinking A702 from Edinburgh to Abington, M74 to A701 Dumfries, A75 to Minnigaff.
Alternatives are M8 to Glasgow, M77 - A77 Girvan, A714 to Minnigaff, or a version of the first going to Glasgow on the M8 and then down the M74
I could ride that, but it won't be much fun if it's all like that - the swoopy singletrack pictured for the other trails looks a lot nicer.
That is probably one of the tougher red rock sections, only a few bike lengths long but needs commitment 😉 That whole section is a pain and quite a few folk miss it out altogether! There's another section similar to that on the Smithland section but it's slightly downhill and rollable.
Scree Slope off the Moyle is probably the dodgiest descent on the trail. The Qualifier and Slab are optional, the red Slab bypass is much more fun.
Was round the trail on Tues.
Brambles is the cafe beside the house just outside the forest near the toilet block. Drop in, say Hi to Jemma. 😆
My normal route in reverse, might be slow with all the various speed limit changes but preferable to motorway stress ❗Thinking A702 from Edinburgh to Abington, M74 to A701 Dumfries, A75 to Minnigaff.
http://scottishenduroseries.co.uk. Enduro at Ae this weekend
Trail updates usually updated on a Fri;
http://www.7stanesmountainbiking.com/Kirroughtree
If thinking about riding @ Kirry, call Sam or Phil @ Breakpad for local shop update.
NB. The police and speed cameras are out in force atm including unmarked Audi & BMW on the A75. There has been a number of serious accidents recently so their profile has increased. Mind your speed and drive safe for a good weekend.
I usually travel up to Lockerbie and then over to Dfs, avoids all the potholes on the '75 😉 and most of the hgv traffic 😀
Cakes are baked - though they wont reach as far as Minigaff
I have ingredients to bake some more once there though NOM NOM NOM
Thanks for organising all this Big Fella
thx for the info, Trekster, lots of closures at KT so it looks like I'll be going to try that. 300 miles and 5 hours for me though (and going to pop in to see my mum on the way), so I'll be there a bit after most of you lot.
Cakes are baked - though they wont reach as far as Minigaff
KT is is then 😀
**note cannot guarantee arrival time***
The red 7stanes trail is affected by Larch tree felling, as there’s timber across then trail in multiple sections. It contains a lot of road riding at the moment.
PIEMONSTER CHANGE OF PLANS AS KT IS CLOSED ON THE RED
RIDING WITH TON NOW @12:30
I'll give you all a wave as you drive past my work!!
I'm aiming to meet at KT.I've looked on the 7 stanes website & it says there's a lot of work going on but I can't go to Newton Stewart & miss out a lap of KT!
I'll be in a silver Focus & riding a cheapo canti braked greenish Carrera CX bike
redirects to follow cake
Looks like DB instead, see you all tomorrow, with or without cakes! 😀
goes to make bigger cake
goes to make bigger cake
Can you do meat pies please? I'm not really a cake person. (more cake for everyone else then I suppose) 😕

I also looked at Google Maps and reckoned that the M8/M77/A714 option would be quickest for me on account of being in a van. Given I'll have TJ with me, that 5 minutes less could save my sanity.
Can you do meat pies please?
WHo wants to tell him 😆
Given I'll have TJ with me
You poor wee thing
Its one way though ...he knows that ?
I thought it was a relay and I was just doing the first leg...
WHo wants to tell him
I'll take that as either, 'I have pies' or, 'I don't have pies'
I hope you have pies. 😉
Jim, Junky is a herbivor.
Pies, you want pies? http://www.dalbeattiefinefoods.co.uk/category-Pies-63.html
Pre or post ride cake?

Junky, cake's good. I've no problem with cake, me.
Unfortunately, I've woken up this morning and my cold's gone onto my chest.
Have fun, boys and girls.
😕
Could be worse chipster

I blame Scotroutes
Piemonster, what's happened? Van broken?
That's not worse, not by a long way.
It looks a lovely blue sky.
Brake discs are gubbed. Which happened last time I'd planned a weekend of bikes and Scotroutes was involved. He's cursed I tell ya.
Either that or my car is at an age where things start wearing out.
But as you say, the sun is out. I have a bike and a car available for tomorrow.
About a month ago, the wife said "When you go biking to Scotland, I've invited my mum for the weekend." 😕
Weather was crap

Yeah, looks bleak.
We struggled with the relentless beating sun,not a cloud in the sky 😀

Huge thanks to the Grizzly Bear Wrestling Champion of Wakefield for organizing this weekend.
It was great to meet and share the trails with other Whiney Cockbags.
If Carlsberg did 'last ten miles' they'd be hard pressed to compete with ours.
Anger management award of the weekend is surely Junkyard's. We went for supper in an Indian Restaurant, whose proprietor struggled to grasp the concept of Veganism. 'If I give you a dish of vegetables and chicken, you can just eat the vegetables, can't you?"

Grim stuff
I've got a sore bum & I slept in the same room as Ton, Bustaspoke & Aracer.
Just saying.
👿
Fantastic couple of days... that totally justified my Shand Stoater.
Have uploaded all my pics to this dropbox folder: pics are here
Will attempt to get them on flickr too.
Great company, some wonderful 2 wheeled (and one wheeled) machines, and some fantastic places to ride bikes....
#RedCAR
Some amazing pics, keep em coming and whens the next adventure Ton ?
it was horrible........... 8)
it was horrible...........
It was worse than horrible. The sun was out, I ate toasties, drank some beer, met some pretty good gadgies, had a mediocre Indian meal, ate some awesome prawns, rode 90 miles on a fairly cheap road (?) bike which performed flawlessly even with 23c tyres on.
I'm not doing that again till next time. 😉
They may take our socks, but they'll never take our freeeeeedommmm!

Many thanks for the weekend and in particular my greatest of thanks to
Ton for organising
The person who booked the weather
Colin for the hovercraft display
Stoo for the bike - I will e-mail you
Kiroughtree for not killing me - it was fantastic it will get another visit
Mcmooter for suggesting that in the real world I am calm ... you get used to it but he did ask me about chicken about 5 times 🙄
Just read about your sister as well....sorry to hear about that.
It really was great to meet you all and a fantastic weekend.
Its always nice to put faces to names and see that despite all the bickering on here we are all rather normal and civilised in the real world.....even TJ.
Now who can photoshop him out of all the pics 😀
I think Ton should do one every year and hope to see you all there
#PUNCTURE
Amusing as can be but i think you had to be there 😆
The internet seems to auto pixelate him out

If you look on Google street view is his whole house blurred out too?
Great weekend, thanks to Ton for doing the work, looking forward to the next one now
Fantastic work 😆
there pie monsters whose physique did not live up to his name
You are no competition to Binners in this respect
Some no' very good pics (knackered cam aswell as a lack of skill) of the weekend plus a few vids from dalbeattie.

Big thanks to Ton for arranging and everyone else there for making it such a fun weekend. We lucked out big time with the weather too 🙂
Sorry for being antisocial buggers and disappearing on sunday, kirkcudree* was a lot of fun tho, best trail centre I've visited. I'd definitely be interested in another trip next year.
*as I think the angry barman called it
Looks ace. Quite disappointed to have missed it but think it was for the best given how Mrs NBT is doing at the moment
She did not have to come 😉
DONK is corret KT was awesome and will get a return visit some brilliant sections and I dont really like trail centres
Dalbeattie......well I have finally stopped moaning about death by fire road and singletrack undulation.
As this is technically Mrs NBT's hobby (she got me into it), my attendance without her would be subject to much negotiation and while possible in certain circumstances would be unlikely to happen on a weekend covering both her and my birthdays
next time though...
Looks great by next time I'll actually own a bike so if it happens when im not at work im in 😉
Has anyone got a gpx of the routes you rode , gutted as couldnt make it but may try and get up there later in the year and see if the wifey fancies making a weekend of it 🙂
A wee photo journal for you, of my fave photots, that I took.

Just back from 300 miles round the Borders by borrowed VFR so just a quick post.
As, I suppose, a host native, it was good of me to attract all the punctures so the visitors didn't have to suffer(except Ton unfortunately). On which point would one half of Team Norfolk please contact me by PM (I'm hopeless at remembering names, sorry).
And big thanks to Tony for organising and to Essel for letting me know about it during discussion of our outing in a fortnight.
If you want more cycling in Dumfries I can recommend the KM - Google KM Rally 2015 for details as I can't link using this tablet. Did someone mention tablet? You can Google that too and, if you've room to park the sugar delivery truck, can try making it.
I will have a GPX but i only rode Saturday
There were lots of garmins there so folk must have the,
Stooo e-mailed re bike
Just want to say thanks to Ton for organising the weekend,it was good to meet fellow forumites and a erm exforumite...For a bunch of blokes who I met on this internet forum you're all surpringly normal!!
Also thanks to Colin for bringing beer & doing the navigating.
I'll be looking forward to the next one,we just need to get the weather gods to supply the sunshine again 😀
Great weekend. Thanks to:
Ton for the idea and for organising it.
Everyone else for showing up and contributing to the banter.
The Royal Marines for providing the Saturday lunchtime show.
Sunna for the weather.
Junkyard for the angry man show in the restaurant and then the pub.
TJ for the company on the drive and for sharing fuel costs.
Esselgruntfuttock for an admirable display of inappropriate equipment.
Stooo and Aracer for the high-speed tow back to the hostel on Sunday

GPX Route - Day 2 http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/636596886 (though we took a wee shortcut)
Biggest disappointment: bringing 24 bottles of beer along for all to share and having 8 to take home again 😕
Hi, yes thanks Ton, top weekend.
Great riding, cafe stops, good company and great scenery - almost as good as the Norfolk Alps.
Hope to ride with you all again sometime, cheers 😀
Stooo and Aracer for the high-speed tow back to the hostel on Sunday
I'm not sure that had much to do with me - spent much of the time desperately hanging on!
Don't think I've much to add, what an awesome weekend made up of great riding, great company and great weather, which was well worth the drive.
and more of my pictures at http://imgur.com/a/uFxrx
Junkyard for the angry man show in the restaurant and then the pub.
Are we using your rule of the Internet or TJ's ?
Depressing reading this. Looks fab
@aracer
A nice collection of 'pictures of people taking pictures' there.
😀
Look folks - moving pictures!!!
Little people... on bikes... inside my computer.... it's witchcraft I tell thee.
Little people... on bikes... inside my computer.... it's witchcraft I tell thee.
& we couldn't do it without electrickery!
Come on Ton, get ya finger out, When's the next one?
The Directors Cut
Note the tidy group riding and excellent road positioning

Colin,thanks for posting 😀
We'll be lucky to get weather as good as that on the next one...
I've just realised the 'Adventure cross' series has a event based around Kirroughtree,
