Myself and mate are heading over from Alnwick on Tuesday to Hawik area.

How does this sound as a plan? Park up in Hawik and ride up to the top of the climb then ride back down to Hawik.

What time would be best to leave Hawik, what time do people think they will be coming through to the top of the climb? Is the top the resevoir?

Pretty poor coverage from ITV. Shaky cameras, not knowing who riders, not being able to identify the winner etc.

I thought it was pretty good coverage, apart from the end, looked good in HD.

not much ITV can do about the shaky cameras but yeah, not being able to identify riders was a bit disappointing.

BUT... great stuff we are watching LIVE world class road racing in the UK!!

That looked pretty painful for Cav and co, hope there are no busted shoulders. Can't complain that much about the coverage, it's not the TdF after all. Reckon it was as good as the Vuelta coverage.

Can't believe the organisers didn't have that big rut filled in, on the outside of the corner that Cav came down on. Looked like his wheel went into it and his shoulder smashed into the edge of the road surface. Ouch!

Cav's off looked sore.......it appeared he lost his front wheel?

Coverage was okay but it's about time the main commentator guy retired!

I think Luke Rowe switched Cav off to secure the win for himself.

The whole bloody thing is rank amateur...
Sending the bunch down ickle tiny roads in the run up to a sprint finish?

Watch the Tour de France; helicopter shots of the beauty of the countryside, same in the Vuelta, same in the Giro. Tour of Britain?

We've seen a resurgence in cycling, we've had the Olympics, we've won the Tour so why is our national race so Mickey Mouse?

Shoddy and embarrassing.

Let down by poor production in the broadcsting suite, Rob Hayles and Mr Porter did a very good job of comentry though.

Great free publicity for the hotel chain after the cav crash though, and so many people watching, a great thing for british cycling.

...and filming the finish from so far away that you couldn't tell who the rider was who won?
Seriously, have a word.

you obviously weren't watching the same Vuelta team time trial i was then.

I thought Rob Hayles was pretty good.

Hugh Porter on the other hand..... he's okay commentating on the track but only because they go round and round so many times he eventually figures out who it is.

But yes... silly finish. Two sharp corners within 2km to go. What do you expect?

I am pretty sure that TTTs are a different kettle of fish to a bunch sprint finish.

Was stood at the 2nd to last corner where Wiggins went down (very bizarre, no idea why he seemed to plough straight on).

Have to say, didn't see any cameras around apart from a motorbike so not sure how great it would've looked on TV.

Will be watching the highlights though.

Was out on the course earlier today in Suffolk , have to say i was well impressed in how the police and officals closed down some very very busy roads and WOW the amount of people out lining the route was amazing , dont think British cycling has ever been such high profile with all the postive things like Wiggio winning the tour etc etc

ToB isn't a big race though. I thought it was OK. I like the prankster attitude of the organisers - "SurpriseNarrowBridgeWhereYouLeastExpectIt!" what happened to the dudes with yellow flags at the hazards. Or is the ToB more hardcore, "MTFU and take your chances..."

Still, nice to see an unexpected get a win. I thought David Millar was racing in Garmin. But seems he didn't start... anyone know if he's injured?

As I suspected, ITV4 missed the Wiggins crash. He was basically leading into the 2nd to last corner after the Cav crash and then just seemed to lose grip at the front.

Luckily the guy next to me got in on video - I love what Wiggins says...

I wondered how sky didn't just stomp it given the lead they got from the crash

Audio NSFW 😀

ITV were busy shoving a camera in Cav's face...

Ah, I was 100m from finish, wondered why Wiggo looked so thoroughly pissed off when he came past. That crash wasn't mentioned at all anywhere, commentary was too busy lamenting the fall of Cav.
