Keen to hear from other followers as to who to watch in this years TD. Especially, interested to see how Guy Martin gets on. Sub 20 day?

I read an article that he was contending the race, but if I am correct, Mike Hall is having another bash and he's a machine.

Whether it's 12 days or 90 days, full credit to all those taking part.

12 days would be impressive. Josh Kato averaged 190 miles a day last year to get the win in 14 days and a few hours. I suspect you are having fun.

More blue dot watching methinks.

Can't see Guy Martin of the TD 16 tracker page, I assume he's still doing it. All seems a bit old/quiet on the web if you do a google of Guy Martin Tour Divide

I'm more looking forward to seeing how it unfolds for the riders. Records and places vs stories and heroics in these events. Riders pulling it out of the bag on the last day like IanF's HTR ride this year, or Josh Kato's win last year - it wasn't the win as much as how he did it and after his 2014 run story too.

Lanterne Rouge stuff, I'm a sucker for the story : )

First man home time - depends on conditions. It's a slightly different course over the years also so I see each year's event as a one-off. As riders get to know the route better they can go faster overall but only if conditions allow it.

Guy Martin is a focussed chap, I'm not suprised he's not showing up yet. I do think he's there for the right reasons and perhaps avoiding some publicity is part of how he'll get what he's there for.

Got to be tempted by Mike Hall for the win, great guy, and as you say an absolute machine - IIRC he's decided not to take a phone or to do any updates this year, as he doesn't want any distractions, which must mean he's in it to win it!

It's a strong field, with Josh Kato in for another good shout, but I think Mike Hall might do it. Interesting that he's doing it 'off grid' and good for him too. Saw a pic of his bike the other day and it looks light! I'm sure Guy will put in a great effort, but Mike has the long term form I feel.

Anyway, good luck to everyone as whatever the position it is one hell of a ride.

On reflection, I suspect Guy M will post a good time as the race is just as much a mental game as much as a physical one. Any athlete in any sport that has reached the level like he has will in my view be very driven and determined to succeed at all costs. That will stand him in great stead when the inner demons start niggling away when the chips are down and he's hurting.

A lot of it will depend on weather & trail conditions - if they get the same perfect conditions as we had last year then I think Mike Hall will smash the record. Guy has the major disadvantage of being a rookie, Mike & Josh have both ridden it multiple times and will have a very good idea of resupply points, bivvy spots and tough sections.

Whatever happens, I'm very jealous and would love to have another run at it.
