Does fast rolling matter when you have extra power? How about some Armadillo'd Specialized Purgatory 2.2? Or SX (1.5 ply casing) Butchers?

Can vouch for the exo ardents on the rear( don't know about the front, use a nevegal ) they have stood up very well to the rocks and slate of the lake district. Have got a couple of slashes on the side that if they weren't exo would of probably gone right through the tyre wall.

ignitors?

Im 15 stone, 29er.
Find they're pretty good all over the shop TBH. And my preferred all round tyre.

The X-Kings roll really fast and the sidewalls feel tough but I'd only use one on the rear if you want to ride downhill corners fast in wetter conditions - edge knobs aren't that big or stiff. Possibly a great rear though.

conti protections are still pretty lightweight.

If your after extra heft in the side walls to support weight, I would suggest getting tubeless racekings or x kings and running them with tubes.

Didn't really like either Ardents or Advantages meself but the Exo sidewalls will do exactly what you want.

NN Snakeskin still isn't all that tough IME, I've cut the sidewalls twice on mine and tbh that's just not something I do normally.

Another vote for 2.25 Ardent exo's, shite in mud on the front though. Mint everywhere else...

Moon on a stick indeed

Luckily I have a rather long stick 😉

I happen to have a stash of brand new 2.35 Dual Ply Maxxis Bing Blings in 60a compound - the fastest rolling dual plys worth having, not quite a semi slick but very low centre tread knobs, hook up great in a straight line, never clog with mud due to their low centre knob height and spacing, drift better than any other but have the same side knobs as a minion DHF so rail corners brilliantly once leant over.
a Bling Bling was the tyre Gwin won the Petermaritzburg WC (with the mega flat long pedalling section in the middle) on last year
[img] [/img]
Maxxis decided to discontinue these tyres a few years back and I love them so much I bought as many as I could find.. I'd be prepared to part with a set, but only for somewhere close to full RRP

you're other option may be to try finding a Highroller semi slick dual ply (not quite so moon on a stick, but not anywere near as nice characteristics as an all-rounder)
or go with a rounder profile Dual ply Larsen TT or Crossmax (both still available AFAIK but neither quite so good when conditions get damper)

Tony CRC are doing tubeless conti cert pro's at £18 - old school you might think but they are black chilli flavour and an absolute bargain

I've only had my pacestar snakeskin tlr nobby nics a few weeks but they've held up far better than the UST Racing Ralphs that I had a few years back. The RRs we looking really battered after just a few rides. I'm not exactly sure that's a recommendation though. I'll have to see how they are after a couple of months riding.

Depends on the version but if they're the standard ones, not very. Very fast wearing too I found.
