Hi all
Any recommendations for a tough-sleeved MTB jersey. Just bought an Endura MT500 Burner II because it claimed to be tough. Great jersey for trail-centers and wide open trails - but a mystifying placement of super-thin mesh on the inner elbow - just where twigs, branches and brambles hook up in the crook of your arms. Trashed mine after a single ride along bridleway trails. I have an old Endura jersey which has tough material placed all up the front of the lower arm. That's been brilliant for brushing past hedgerows etc. But they no longer sell it.
Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Rob

Following this thread - have bought Royal and Troy Lee in the past - and both are hopeless in brambles etc.
Tend to now use Mountain Whorehouse "in the sale" tops if any vegetation is going to be in close proximity. It does fair any better - but it's cheap.

@rspillar I’ve got a Polaris “top” that is extraordinary in its ability to resist brambles. It looks really thin but is excellent for dry weather days with proper layering underneath of course. I can’t remember what it’s called except that’s it orange! When I get back in the house I’ll try and remember to look it out. I’ve still got clothes and kit bags Polaris gave me well around 30 years ago - good stuff but under the radar for most people.
Jersey is a very underused word, as is Ganzy!

@rspillar I’ve had to look on the website for the name of the ganzi/ganzy/jersey, it’s Overland. I’ve also got a full zip wind proof from them that’s excellent and a waterproof, also excellent with zipped pit vents for the uphills. They do have an outlet but last time I went it was just a small area in reception, however in this world of exorbitant pricing I feel that they provide value for money and excellent quality “stuff”!

Hey. The Overland looks pretty good. I'll do some shopping! It's very similar to my original 10yr-old bomb-proof Endura. I suspect that Endura, Troy Lee etc have headed towards using the professionals for their product-testing. Fine if you're Rachel Atherton gap-jumping wide open trail centres and you can just throw a jersey in the bin when it gets trashed and pick up another from your sponsors. Less brilliant when you're a tight git environmentally-concious person like me wanting my jersey to last 10 years through bramble-infested singletrack. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll deffo do some shopping. Cheers. Rob

Wonder if an army surplus store might have something. Likely to be hard wearing anyway.!
