Or is it just me.
Got caught in the snow at 8am'ish whilst out on the road. By 9.30am when I reached the off road stuff it was warming up and the ground was sucking me in.
Proper hard going I thought. Got back home by about 1.30pm and just sat on the garage floor with my head in my hands.
Done in 😥
had a good early morning 50 miler on the road bike. Cold first thing but warmed up nicely towards the end.
Hard work in the Malverns. Corn snow over mud. Definitely felt like every mile was worth 2 summer miles. We weren't out that long tho and had an ace time, so maybe that's the secret 🙂
I changed plans as it was just soaking wet in Wiltshire, went for a 5K jog instead
Tough but lovely up in the hills. I was going to do the W2 at Afan but at the top the snow was just too deep. Nice when you are first to the top with fresh snow and no tracks but your own.
Thought it was just me, snowy ride near Leeds and am knackerd.
Out for 3 hour loop on the cross bike, started to snow after half an hour. Last 20 mins turned to sleet, ended up soaked and freezing. Hands still feel 'funny'. Proper knackered now, so off out to recover with a few pints and a curry
me too, think I've over done it! Legs are kind of throbbing...40 mile hilly road ride, 2h 35m..
Did 26 miles today and conditions were minging. Managed to soak my feet in icy water so when I got back I had a bad case if chill blanes
Had about 6 inches of snow where i am and it was ok where it was fresh but a nightmare where it had been walked through, front wheel washing out every 5 yards, packed in after 18 mile and went home....
At Cwmcarn today nice and quiet, trails ok bit icy/snowy but still ok, going to be well dodgy rest of the week if it freezes as all singletrack climbs were starting to ice over.
Good fun though 😀
Out on Leith Hill today, been a while since i've been out on the mountain bike, I swear mud wasn't this hard to peddle through...
even the elite riders pushed up ankle deep muddy climbs on today's soggy bottom xc race. I am proper knackered!
Yeah, SB round 3 was brutal this afternoon - probably the hardest race I've done. Mind you it's confirmed to me that riding once a fortnight a racer does not make...
Cried it off entirely. 😆
when I reached the off road stuff it was warming up and the ground was sucking me in.
Same! Nice and fast heading out over frozen ground, but a heck of a slog coming back. Didn't help that the wind had picked up either 😛 Legs are like jelly now, not felt this tired in months!
My wife did the Brighton half marathon so I got to stand in the p*ssing rain for 3 hours.
Had a cracking day today with Trekster and company.
XC through Ae forest and surrounding area. No wind, temp just under zero, with roads and turf nicely frozen, good viz and occasional glimpse of sun. Finished off with coffee and soup at Ae cafe. Even got the kids out on their bikes when I got home.
Grand. 🙂
had a good 4 hours of playing in some localish woods. Solomanda off here was riding, with paparazi duties from .duncan on camera, and lemurian filming. Hopefully pics and vid will pop up on here once they have had time to sort them out...
I tested my new mongoose khyber as well, which was brilliant! Its a really fun bike, and although i didnt even get close to its limit, i had good times. Plus now got a couple of corners that are haunting me till next time...
theres some wierd muddypatches in that picture... Really spoils the snow
boggy in Aberfoyle too, and ripped a hanger off.....
First time I've been out since before Christmas. Sunny, not a cloud in sight, all the mud was still frozen and I had a brilliant time. Reminded me why I love riding.
Did a ride round Wareham forest this morning, like you the mud was sucking me down, got back and the legs were hanging.
Guess i need to lose some weight so as i can glide over the mud rather than sinking in 😆
It was absolutely stunning and perfect 'winter' conditions at Glentress today, sorry...
Cracking weather this afternoon for my fifty miler on the road through Oxfordshire and Wiltshire. Big white clouds towering above, partially screening deep blue skies and not a snow flake or rain drop in sight.

Went for a 3hr run over the N Downs this afternoon. Didn't bother thinking about the conditions beforehand, and was met with horrendously sticky/claggy mud throughout. Was slipping around all over the place. Must've added a good 20mins to normal route time and really felt it on the last section.
Quick exchange of texts over breakfast, met up with a mate and his family for sledging and snowballing at 9 with the kids, then we had a wonderful, but hard trundle round Shipley Park in 3 inches of sticky snow.
More knackered by the sledging and snowballing, but I'd like to think we'd earned the cafe stop 😕
I've not felt this tired in a long time. 1st ever club cross ride today and I am a slowcoach compared to the rest of the riders who turned out. 72km in about 4 hours with an inch or 2 on some of the forestry climbs. Weather was beutiful though. Hope to have many more rides like this. LBS owner even fed us Belgian waffles and espresso before heading out 😀
Stuck to the singlespeed and to the roads. Went upto the Henry Moore foundation for the first time, a good place to relax, spiritual.
Just under three hours in the mud, sleet, rain and ice. Lots of fun and managed a couple of local DH runs at the end. I was feeling brave.
