Anyone know where to buy cheap torx and security torx allen keys and/or sockets?

Also does anyone bother torquing these things on disc rotors to manufacturers recommendations? I have a 3/8" drive torque wrench but prices for the sockets seem silly!

Cheers

You can buy a cheap set of torq/security torq bits from Halfords, Machine Mart etc for around a fiver. But worth it IMO to get a good T25 torq, since stripped heads on a brake rotor bolt are a real pain in the bum.

Security torqs just drive me mad... The only people who don't have them are legitimate DIYers, they don't even inconvenience thieves since they'll have already taken the bike/car/whatever and are stripping it at their convenience in a fully-stocked garage. But on 7pm on a sunday when you find out your bike has one, you're boned.

Cheers for the advice, I think I'll invest in a decent T25 as they look like they could strip pretty easily...

I didn't even know what a security torx was until this morning when I tried to remove a rotor from one of my mtb's that had them!

Got the Park P handled T 25 and it's great. About £9 from crc iirc.

If you want something handy for out on the trail Maplin do small folding torx sets with alloy frame for about £3, got a set of torx bits from B&q for about a quid as well, and set of security bits from machine mart for £5 that actually gets used a lot more than I thought it would really handy if you need to change flexes on anything electrical

Cheers for advice. I bought a security torx multi tool from Maplin that did the job perfectly!

Check your rotor bolts. I discovered some of mine were T20 not T25 which seems to be the standard.

I got a socket set with some Torq bits on for about £8.
