Contemplating a long weekend trip up to Torridon late next April. Is this as good as any a time to go, generally, weather wise etc?

Decent chance of ok wether then. Could be pissing down though! Much like any time! Snow likely cleared from bike routes though still might be some on tops if you’re wanting to head up hills rather than around.

Seriously though, late April And May can be lovely, but it was pretty chilly this year about that time iirc. Safest bet if there is one would be mid May to early June.

I reckon as much chance of rain as August but with more chance of snow...

Id say you'd be fine but pack for every season... riding temps are probably nicer n no midges but if your stranded it won't be forgiving

late april/early may is the best time to go to Torridon I think.

Midge season usually starts towards the end of May ..but as others have said there is potential for snow on the tops still in April ..

You pays your money ...etc.

That's probably about my favourite time to head for the Highlands, but as has already been said, pack for all seasons - you could get all conceivable weather in one day.

That's when we went this year.

It was great. Would go again at the same time, although I think early May is optimal.

There was rain on most days, but also clear spells to look forward to.

Snow on peaks, but not on the trails.

Rain doesn't affect the trails really.

Go prepared for being damp. A dry extra base layer and spare gloves are welcome. Make sure your waterproof is actually waterproof.

There's a trail under that loch somewhere 🙂

We went mid april two years ago. There was snow on the tops and we had one day where the weather was grim so we went walking and had wintery weather, but we also had glorious day on the bikes in sunshine. I fell in love with the place and need to go back

Been twice as early as February with very different results. One year it snowed intermittently but everything was rideable, following year heavy snow on the tops but fine below a certain height which rather restricted route choice. So, April will be fine!
