So i know there were a couple of forum dwellers around so how did you find that? A beautiful day and a wonderful if not very dusty course! Sorry for not taking in the conversation from the chap on the fat(?) bike, see below.

Despite some illness and lack of training in the first three months of this year I feel I rode well to come 9th GV. Had a bit of a failing on the penultimate lap - maybe a bad gel? - which meant I had to stop twice with nausea and throw up on the side of the trail - I dropped 2 mins on lap 7 & 8 due to that. Nothing has stayed down until this morning, which has meant for an uncomfortable dehydrated night!

I’m absolutely battered and aching all over this morning therefore confident I’ve given it al I have right now. Onwards to the next one.

Great to back racing in big crowds though, how very privileged we are in these times.

Yes, I joined a GV Pair at shirt notice on Friday. I haven't ridden an event like it for about 7 or 8 years ago it was a bit of a shock.
Riding a 2.8" tyred, rigid, steel, loop bar bike was fun but took me until my 3rd lap to start to get to grips with carrying speed through the twisty singletrack.
I certainly feel it in my hands today.

Really enjoyed that, I was in a 12 hour pairs team and we managed 11 laps between us. The weather was amazing, I can't think of anything better than riding a bike on a sunny day. The course was excellent, to the most technical but the singletrack was such good fun. Totally agree with it being great to be doing large scale events and crowds, I've missed it.

Went over to watch for a few hours, respect to all you guy racing, it was warming up a bit and, as said, pretty dusty in places. I took quite a bit of video footage which I'll try and edit soon and get up on Youtube. It won't be very professional but will be in 4K and I attempted to capture as many riders as I could... well done everyone, a nice atmosphere there.

I did the 6hr solo vet, very hot and dusty, I drove home and my wife said "You look like a chimney sweep!"

Nice varied course, some awkward slow soft/loamy/rooty stuff, open areas, rutted descents, bombholes, and some fast flowing sections, a great mix. It was good to chat with a few friendly people, everyone was polite when overtaking and being overtaken.

The hands took a right pummelling... I struggled to put enough force into my knife to cut my toast this morning.

A couple of videos from the race if anyone is interested... I tried to keep to short clips. More to follow as I edit and upload.

The first one is just the start of the 6 hour race ... the rest of them are (will be) random video clips from out on the trails.

It was an absolute belter. Great to be doing events like this again, especially in such nice weather. A special well done to all the fast teams, I'm in awe and I'd forgotten just how fast you all ride. It felt like there weren't that many teams of muggles like us this time round. Still, team "Minging Possums" managed 13 laps in the men's 12hr team.
Special thanks to our cheering squad, led by my wife, Jacqui (she couldn't ride as recovering from a broken shoulder). Hopefully she gave you a honk from the horn or a jingle from the cow bell at some point.

Was your camp by the hedge before the last step push up into the arena?

Nope, no track side camping for us. But lots of honking by the 2 road crossings in the last 3 kms of the course.

Mini-Natrix was in the mini-torq which he thoroughly enjoyed even though his chain came off 4 times over the 3 laps (sack the mechanic).

Disapointing to hear (via facebook) that there were some folk taking shortcuts (again).............

Was out for a walk yesterday around Minley (lucky to have it on my doorstep) when I stumbled across this race, it really was the perfect day for it and the trails are running great up there, little dusty but still awesome. Course looked really good and hats off to anyone managing hours and hours of that, especially the fat bike guys….Spent a while watching at the bottom of SpongeBob, occasionally shouting allez allez. It’s been torrential rain most of the day here today, so they got the timing right !

Got to say that was a good day out racing with the guys. 12 hour team of old blokes for me. We did 17 laps managing 5th in class. Great course and good organisation. Loved it.

Well done and thanks to those who raced, organised or did encouragement.
