I have been diagnosed with two major tears of shoulder ( Rotor Cuff ) Tendons after 4 months and may have to wait 6 months for investigative / repair surgery on NHS ( No private cover unfortunately )

I have some rotation and movement now but still cannot ride MTB yet as shoulder too weak at present.

Has anyone experienced similar and what experience did you have?

My suggestion for you is to go back and ask them what they really said. Because if you do have two major tears (I would only call a complete rupture a major tear) by the time 6 months comes round the two ends will have retreated, the muscles will have wasted away to nothing, there'll be heehaw left to repair and you might as will have your elbows stuck to your sides for the rest of your life. I doubt very much that what you have been told is that you have major tears. You certainly wont have major tears if you have some rotation and movement. I suspect you may however had a a couple of moderate tears which the orthopods are waiting to see if they repair using conservative management and physio. Go back and ask the people who have seen your scans.

Tears vary enormously but in the spirit of giving you hope:
I've had SLAP tears to both my shoulders, had them both surgically repaired (bolts in) and made complete recovery - good enough to race EWS, megavalanche etc on.
You are entitled to choose whcih specialist you see on the NHS - if you really value your shoulder or are anywhere near Wigan, ask for Professor Funk of shoulderdoc.co.uk
He's the man 8)

Thanks for reply....Ultrasound chap told me I had major tears on tendons, his exact words...returned to fracture clinic 4 weeks later and they asked if I would like it treating ( silly question )....now on waiting list for surgery as this is only way of repairing this injury according to the consultant I saw on Friday..Will visit GP to see if this can be prioritised perhaps...it has already been 4 months...I have some rotation, but not without pain.

Just FYI the coat of repairing my slap lesion privately is a smidge over a grand. Not much in the scheme of things.

Had a minor tear in my lower glenhumoural ligament. Landed on an airbag badly.
Lots of physio sorted it. Still not 100% but close.
