Buying a rack for a sus frame. These two are in the offing.
Anyone got any experience of either ?.
The topeak is nice but I've seen a vid with it on a sus frame and it was sitting at a pitched angle, which wouldnt be ideal. The Thule has struts of different lengths so it appears to do away with that possible problem, should it arise.
The topeak problem appears to stem from the angle of the seatstays 😕 and i think mine are quite low, but its hard to tell how they would affect the fitting, without actually fitting.
The old man mountain sherpa is nice but not sure theyre that easy to get in the UK and are a bit expensive(Seen at £155 inc fitting kit) very nice though and their fitting kits are bike/frame model specific.
I cant decide on either topeak or thule, both look very nice and are similarly priced. So if anyone knows or has fitted or had a mate using either, all advice is appreciated.
I run a (modified, widened) Thule Tour on my fatbike, it is rock solid. Lots of hardware options as you say. I like the Topeak MTX bag system so I have an MTX track on top of the Thule deck to take that. I run both sizes of the MTX bags with foldaway panniers on without needing the optional extra Thule pannier side things.
I trail ride my fatbike with Bluto fork and 150mm dropper down all sorts of stuff and did a week's off road bikepacking in Scotland with a mate with similar set up (but he has Ortlieb front panniers). Lots of rocky descents. Rock solid.
Bonus also is that I have enough room on the seat stays to run a mudhugger guard too.
Whats the fitting for the MTX on the thule ?. Does it also come with corner straps
Edit: just noticed you have the pack fitting fixed to the thule rack 🙂
Ordered a thule one last night.. Will update once I've fitted and tested at the weekend
dyna-ti it's the Topeak Unisex Quicktrack Rack I have bolted on top of the Thule deck.
